Why can't we have more refs like Smoger!?!?

For shits and giggles I watched Pavlik Taylor for the 5th time. I swear, every time he steps in the ring you know you're gonna see 2 guys FIGHT. He walks a very thin line... He allows damage to insue without guys actually getting hurt. You need to have alot of balls to ref the way that he does.

One of the best in the game. Need more like him!

Smoger is without a doubt the best in the business. Any lessor ref would have stopped Pavlik in the 2nd round.

Oh, hell yeah... In fact, I remember yelling in my living room for Kelly to fire back because that was thin ice with 10 seconds left to go in round 2. I thought Smoger was gonna stop it... I really did. But it was a lesson to other refs that even though it may look hopless for a fighter.... It may not be the end. Let em fight!

Always remember Smoger at the end of the Augustus-Ward fight, you could tell he had enjoyed it, didn't he say something like fight of the year?

Lampley's always going on about how Smoger lets things go, I don't have any problem with that early in fights, like Pavlik in round two, wasn't any shot of him getting seriously hurt, people really only get seriously hurt by taking a long drawn out beating.

I agree 1000%. He is the best around and I know if he is the ref in a fight, it will get done right.

I loved it in the Pavlik/Miranda fight. In the second round, after both fighters were in like a solid minute of non stop brutal infighting thowing haymakers, they finally lightly clinch and smoger yells, "Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful" It sure was.
