How much does a heavy bag cost? I'm looking to get one for my house. Just asking the price range for on of them.

I have to ask - why haven't you had a look on the net before posting a thread asking how much they cost?

Hey everyone,
Me and a handful of friends want to start boxing this summer. None of us have any experience, and we want to get some gloves and headgear so we can start up a mini-league for the summer. Somone suggested that we get 16oz gloves, but I wanted some second opinions.
We're all between 150 and 185 pounds, if that helps. Can anyone recommend any good brands that don't cost toooo much, but that are good and reliableThanks a lot!

all depends where you live.
you dont think you might be jumping the gun alittle by starting a leauge when you dont even know how to box? however enthusiasm is good so keep it up.
the best makes are title, everlast, BBE. however they can get a bit costy. i personally spar with 12oz gloves, cause 16 are like wearing cushions, you can hardly feel the punch. my gloves are made by blitz and they are the best i have ever owned. ive had them for about 3 years and they have gone through nearly every training session without tearing once. i even use them on the bags (sometimes, when the wrists are a bit tender).
good luck, try a gym before you start backwary boxing. if you live in england give me a shout, ill conme down and kick yo asses![]()
hey thanks a lot for responding!
yea, haha by "league" i just mean like 8 of us beating the crap out of eachother, and maybe having a little tournament at the end of the summer. i just found a good little gym near me, so maybe i'll go check that out.
...i've also been reading books, watching it on tv, and shadow boxing...hahaha, so i'm learning a little.
we'll probably go with 14oz for now...and yea, i'm from the US. i live in syracuse, ny.
also, any recommendations about fight length? we were thinking 3 rounds for now, since we're not in tip-top shape and don't have any experience. whats an average round length....3 minutes??
thanks!
nah man, go by amatuer competiton rules. 4 2 mintue rounds.
3 mins are reserved for the pros, and you need at least 4 rounds to make the scores!
dont forget your wraps!!, and mouthguard!!
get heavy gloves, they will feel your punches when you get more skilled.
but it does helps them to get less injury
i train with 18oz, better for training (speed endurance power) you will notice this when you put on your competition gloves.
so it is better for both!!!!
i would call off that league since you all will not be experienced by this summer. and prob will end up
with big injury.
the worst thats gonna happen is a broken nose...BoohooOriginally Posted by Confirm
