While I agree it is a bit cowardly, I think it's more an example of fighting fire with fire than anything else. Calzaghe knew Hopkins was going to be as dirty as he could, and he probably just wanted to show B-Hop that he could bully him back.

Yeah, I get what most are saying, that's why I said Hopkins is no angel himself....by any means

If he would of kicked him in the balls, that would have been different

That would've been hilarious, probably would've been the most exciting part of the fight.
On a related note, did you guys find it to be a good fight? I found it very technical and somewhat lacking in action, aside from when Hopkins was able to land the right hand. I ask that because I was listening to sports radio at work yesterday, and one of the guys was talking about how he thought it was "a great fight"

I liked it, as it was interesting to see how Joe would try to adapt to Hopkins style. The holding by Hop was annoying, as usual, but predictable.

But I thought Hop was sharp and when he threw that right hand it found a home quite alot. He should have been busier and fought inside more instead of hold, and could have won the fight{though alot think he already did}; he should have been more physical IMO and let those hands go.

I really wouldn't mind seeing a rematch, though I doubt that would ever happen.

I'd love to see a rematch, the fight was close enough that it could've gone either way. Unfortunately, with the age of both guys, we'll never see it. I think Hopkins would be more willing to fight again than Calzaghe.

Low blows aside, what strikes me as a stupid thing to say from Calzaghe is, "I knew all along he was all talk". Umm..Ok, so a 43 yr old who was all talk just gave you the hardest fight you've been in in a decade, and dropped you in the first? I mean in a close contest like this, to talk smack about the man you just narrowly defeated instead of giving him credit for his accomplishments always seemed pointless to me.

    Or how about:
"I've just sent one guy into retirement, a so-called legend, so maybe now I can do it now to Roy Jones."

Umm, you didn't SEND Hopkins anywhere, he is 43 and had mantained all along this was likely his last fight. Does Joe really think he could retire a legendary fighter like Hop if he weren't already on his way out?

Look, I'm not a hater... But he didn't pattycake Hop anywhere... If he thinks he even came close to Hurting Nard he's fucking insane...

Joe needs to shut his mouth. Props to him for defeating Nard but now it's time to shut up.

If he met Bernard in a dark alley in Philly head be breathing out of a tube and drinking his meat through a straw.
