The guy was outclassed plain and simple. he wasn't hit with a lucky punch either. He was obviously in there with a much better fighter who was on another level and exposed the off balance, club fighter that Deleon is. Say what you will about Deleon, but the guy was exposed and overhyped IMO. Like I said in my 1st post, it reminded me of when Delahoya exposed R.Ruelas's faults and made it look easy. That fight was not even a contest just like the one last night. Talent tells!

exposed? no. more like lopez discovered.
PDL wasn't exposed he just got caught by surprise, he was badly hurt and instead of trying to hold on he tried to trade. Hopefully he'll learn from this and come back stronger. U have to give credit to Lopez though he's burst onto the world scene in great fashion.
To call PDL a club fighter is just stupid, he's not a great boxer but uses what he has which is his power, he's great for the sport because he's not afraid to fight anyone and fights regulary.

Not exposed. Just so happens JuanMa has better skills and probably packs an even stronger punch. It happensCongrats Juan MA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ive said in the past as MANY others have how limited and catchable Deleon was ...Club footed with balance of a linebacker, over extended off lead punch, and hit on like a piñata but his power alone has brought him through with emphasis and was /is thunderous.Never thought Deleon beat Penalosa or Sod lookysomething in 1st fight but I'm always a little weary of tearing a guy down after defeat....It sort of diminishes the All credit due breakout showing and performance that Lopez displayed. He took a legitimately dangerous albeit flawed Champion and absolutely demolished him in short fashion...quick, precise and two fisted finisher was lopez. That right hook from southpaw stance is brutal. These two just looked to be going in opposite directions and on very different levels.
PDL defended his belts many times. He just got caught with a good one by a better fighter.

I agree with Boozeboxer, most people who know anything about boxing when discussing Ponce De Leon would all pretty much comment on his lack of style and skillset that was made up for with power.
As for writers being on his nut's? Well some of those guys will praise anyone who has a winning streak and knockouts, Not all but some. So you can't go by a few articles
Hey fellas,
Sorry that some of you got a little offended because I used the word "exposed" in the thread, But that's how i saw it when he was beaten so easily. Not everyone is as knowledgeable as some of the gents on this forum, and that includes the press, that's why i used the the word exposed because many people overrated this kid, reguardless of how limited Deleon was. I felt all along that this kid would get defeated by a technically sound fighter just as Darchinyan, Hamed and Mugabi were. They were all power punchers with their own awkwardness that seemed to work for them until they were all exposed by technically sound fighters, and last night was no exception.
