THIS era? When does the fab four ever get shit for ducking Aaron Pryor? When do legends like Sugar Ray Robinson, Lamotta and Conn get shit for ducking Charley Burley?

To suggest that Floyd gets away with anything is rediculous. Fans rag on Floyd whenever they get an oppertunity to do so.

This way he can argue he was the greatest of all, Floyd pulls a Jim Brown. Good way to enrage all the Floyd haters so I like it.

    Good pointt.. Goota rep you..

Its all just time gone bye.. People forget and everybody got the stick when they were fighting but when time has passed people forget and it takes time for legacies to cement..

I think people can certainly rip floyds later years but they really cannot fault his business at super feather and lightweight..

And people will most certainly remember the likes of JLC , Corrales, hatton, oscar, zab judah etc.. and when enough time has passed all it'l be is big names on the record with a shiny 0 in the losses collumn..

Its hard to admit but he WILL go down as a great.. so i dont know.. fair play i guess

I could care less what Floyd chooses to do... If he want to retire, whether it be to wait for money, scared... Whatever...

    Who cares...

While he's dicking the dog we can watch the rest of the hugely talented div. actually fight eachother... Rather then care about the rediculousness that has come to be the Mayweather clan... They are a joke...

Is Floyd the #1 P4P? Absolutly. Do I give a shit what scam he's running no. Cuz he'll be back. He'll fight anyone out there if the money's right... He pisses me off and he's made himself into a laughing stock but he's still the best.

    Fuck this "retirment"...

He's a moron... Calling him a genius... Hell, calling any of the mayweathers geniuses should be grounds for a psyc evaluation...

Didn't you know, it's only now become a business, and fighters always fought the best throughout time regardless of the money involved.

Like Jack Johnson during his HW reign. Boy, he sure fought every worthwhile challenger regardless of the skin-color and the money fighting guys of certain skin color would mean. Jack Dempsey, boy he sure kept active as a HW champ rather than taking part in well-paid exhibitions.

Ray Robinson never cared about money, he never said "I'm too pretty to fight Charley Burley" or fought for every last dollar. He never admitted "boxing is a business and I never enjoyed it". Could you imagine him trying to be a tap dancer and a singer? No way!

All the fighters of the past took on the most deserving challengers regardless of monetary value.

Archie Moore, Charley Burley, Ezzard Charles, Harry Wills, Joe Jeannette, Sam McVae, Sam Langford, Holman Williams, Lloyd Marshall.

They ALL got their deserved shots at the big time at the right time, because all the fighters and promoters knew that merit was more important than money!!

Damn this modern era where it's all about money. Let's go back to the honest 1950s with Jim Norris and Frankie Carbo! It was a true sport then, not a business!

Oddly enough I didn't take any offense to that being that I usually agree with you on most of the things you say.

That way I see it, I feel like all of us (boxing fans) would just say something around the lines of "I KNEW IT!" To a casual boxing fan (I KNOW A LOT OF THESE PEOPLE), they are the first ones to say "OH MY GOD! HE CAME OUT OF RETIREMENT!" Those are the people that need persuading to really get into boxing. Scams like Floyd is currently trying to pull off, work on people like that. People like us on the other hand, need no more convincing, we are already boxing fans.

I don't think Gyrokai said anything harsh or foolish in his post. It's his opinion and he stated it with clarity. That last line about the absentee cousin was damn funny. In fact it reminded me of myself.

I'm not sure if I agree with him or not. I can see myself supporting his opinion or arguing against it depending on my mood. Right now though I'm not up to the task of either action.

In 40 years time your grandaughters boyfriend is going to walk into your house.
At first you'll be delighted to hear that he's a boxing fan like yourself.

However, differences will arise when he claims his generation of boxers are far superior to those of your generation.

What will you do? Will you say; yeah the best fighter of my generation was an ass!
    or
will you present the case of our most talented fighter and explain how Mayweathers education in the sport was rivalled by none?

Surely that all depend on the level of fighter around during that era.

Techniques within boxing have drastically changed over the last 20-30 years and i very much doubt they`ll be altered too much over the coming generations which should give us an accurate judgement as to which era was the best.

Fighters of 60-70s used to rarely pay much attention to the economics of fighting on the back foot and most contests were just seen as out and ou fights.

I cant imagine what the likes of jake la motta, SRR and joe louis would of made of fighters like PBF, B-Hop etc

I wouldn't call Roy Jones an ass - cocky maybe, but not an ass

I wonder how long it'll take Mayweather to "un-retire".

I'll be surprised if he's still "retired" at the end of the year.

Hell, I'm still have my doubts on whether or not the Sept 20 rematch with DLH won't occur.

Mostly What I This When I Think About Mayweather Is Why Cant He Be A Warrior? When He First Started Boxing He Beat Down People Bad But As His Career Goes On Why Cant He Fight Public Demands Why Cant He Be A Warrior Zab Is A Warrior Win Or Lose You Can Never Say He Ducked A Fight. Cotto Wont Duck A Fight... So Why Cant Mayweather Stop His Bull And Just Give The Fans What We Want?? If He Fought Any Welterweight It Would Be Good But He Really Doesn't Have The Balls Too. Cause When He's The Best And We Gotta Keep Waiting Its Not Right Warriors Do It As Soon As Possible He'll Already Rich Out His Ass Honestly... He's A Genius And Has Many Skills But He Lacks Heart. If He Cared About Fans He'd Be Taking Cotto I Guess Cotto Is His Caution Sign
