Cortez has been trying to climb the list of celebrity attention whores for some time now..! He's one goofy looking mother in that picture, and has absolutely ruined more then one fight in my book...

Just like many fighters even the referee's go on to long, Cortez has lost the plot! To come to a decision like he did with Soto is just total incompetence.
Any rematch will be painful and potentially dangerous for Lorenzo, yeah Joe you have protected the fighter alright!

Cortez showed he was on the take when just before his illegal stoppage he jumped in to split the two when Lorenzo was a sitting duck not down or holding.

Then 5secs later jump in.

Oscar for Lorenzo though at the knockdown he is fine just touches the top of his head then when he sees Cortez call it a foul is laying on his back for 10mins.

Between Lorenzo and Hopkins for worst in ring performances, anyway both jupped that moron Cortez.

either way i doubt its corruption, unless ALOT of people layed ALOT money on soto there would be no point


i think its straight incompetence, and i dont think cortez would have to be in on any corruption kizer thought up anyway, hes so senile at this point that kizer can just direct him into participating without even knowing

Nuh I dont think it's corruption either.. He's just a bit of a plonker that has ref'd one to many fights recently... At one stage I enjoyed hearing that Cortez would be refereeing certain fights I was looking forward to... Now I litereally cringe at it... You can almost gaurantee by round 3, it'll be clearly established which fighter he is hoping to take home and bang that night...
It's sad to see an even matchup be tainted by a ref who picks and chooses the way he is going to referee each fight.. And it's almost a gaurantee that it'll heavily favour one fighter or the other..

I hate Cortez. He was a great ref at one time with great timing for protecting fighters and being "fair but firm" and all that shit. The Hatton fight fucked me off and I just seen this which was even worse! What a crock of shite!! He had him hurt and was going for the kill, just take a point off. Silly bald twatbag he is.

He should quit and become a Santa in a shopping mall at christmas.
