No. Unless he sticks his chin out like he did against Taylor. Abraham is a harder puncher than Taylor and he is a better finisher. But the fight should happen.

Pavlik can break through the shell. In addition to pounding on arms and hooking around the cage, Pavlik has a heck of an uppercut, and when AA going into the shell, Pavlik split the guard and make him pay.

Abraham & Pavlik are both the young guns of the division.

Abraham has fought everal movers in the division & seeing that he's a German based fighter...that should be alright considering that Pavlik has fought outside of the U.S. how many times?

    Sorry...that turkey don't fly...it just get's cooked & eatin on Thanksgiving's Day.

Also...trying to pass Pavlik's record off as beating stellar opponents...not sold there either.

I like Pavlik...but to date...he's faced McKart on the down swing, Miranda the one dimensional brawler, Taylor...I aint going there (because I'm a Taylor detractor), & Lockett...aint going there either (basically because Lockett hadn't proven shit!).

Look...I like Pavlik...truely...I think that he's what the division needs to be brighter...but he aint the end all be all of the divison. There are plenty of other fighters out there making their mark...Abraham being one of them.
While Abraham is a defense first fighter...he aint a boring fighter who wins by the skin of his pants. He's beaten & boxed some pretty tuff customers & while he hasn't fought stateside...he has taken care of biz in Germany...& that should not even be a factor.

What's good for the goose...or turkey...should be equally as fine for the gander.

Abraham tore through Miranda just a few months ago, he hammered Hamdan, went toe to toe with Eastman (an underacheiver but hell of a boxer), blasted out Ikeke in 5, handed Demers his first defeat, wore down Ghevor over 11, took Jantuah to 12, & has defended his title nine times in a row.

Not sure why people don't want to extend any props to those fellars on the list...unless it just furthers your/their arguements against Abraham in Pavlik's favor. Either way...it should be noted that Abraham has worked his ass off to get where he's at. He didn't have to rematch the man that broke his jaw...but he did. He did'nt have to come to America to prove his point...but he did. He's already called out Pavlik...it's a fight that he wants...but he has to go through a mandatory first...unless he wants to let go of his strap that he's worked so hard for.

He's fougth 7 less opponents than Pavlik & knocked out 22 of the 27 men that he's fought...but that's not taken into notion?

Also...Lockett got his shot at Pavlik through match making...nobody new who the hell he was until Team Calzaghe was behined him becoming a sacrificial lamb. Vasquez get's his shot at Abraham through an eliminator.

Abraham, no matter where he hails from, deserves respect for being where he is...just as much as Pavlik does...knockouts & all.

Whether or not he can unseat Pavlik?

Not sure...depends on the fight & how it pans out.

Abraham stands the most chance of beating him...provided that he works his defense properly & remains patient.

Can't improve on that anaylsis. The point about KP"S opposition is a great one. However, the Miranda he beat was better than the one AA beat IMO.

Not to be a nit-picker here…but that is the same Miranda that Abraham beat with a broken jaw in Germany back in 2006. No matter what…no matter how badly Abraham was hurt…he hurt Miranda & almost dropped him on several occasions…only to fight on & win the fight…controversially or not.

While Pavlik’s stoppage was an impressive one…as was the entire fight…Abraham already went toe to toe with him & won…& then battered him witless over 4 rounds in the rematch.

Oddly enough…Miranda admitted that getting hammered by Abraham was a worse beating than the one Pavlik laid on him.

No reason to say such, IWHO…especially as much as he “hates” Abraham.

Anywho…as I said early…I like both fighters…& in the end…I like Pavlik most of the two…but Abraham get’s a lot of flack for being a thinking fighter…for working out of defense. I hate that. The kid’s done as much & in as little time as Pavlik.

One turn deserves just as much respect, IWO.

Honestly…I can’t figure out people when it comes to boxers.
Abraham is devastating in his game.

Anyone that has seen the Ikekee fight knows that the man is a devastating finisher. He totally destroyed Kingsley.

I was well impressed. He had him on the ropes & totally hammered him with left hooks, rights, & then an upper that sent him stumbling head first into the mat.

The first Miranda fight was a smoker for me. Toe to toe exchanges & then a broken jaw that left Abraham wincing & bleeding for the duration. So the guy fights on painfully through a broken jaw & wins the bout. He guts it out & gives his all to get the nod & still…pissing & moaning.

After all the criticism…he comes to the states & destroys Miranda in 4 rounds & finally get’s his respect…& moves on to a mandatory…that he’s going to get no love for…I’m sure…even though Marquez beat handily another top contender of the division…this is a man that Abraham already stopped earlier in his career. Arthur nearly removed Ghevor’s head from his shoulders.

Very few people have seen that fight…but the precision that he handled him with was amazing.

In the end…I think that too many people pass waaaaaaaaaaay too many judgements before they know about the fighter in question.

German bred, American based, or English born…a fighter should not be judged on global positioning…but what he’s done & is capable of…

I’m one Yank who’s willing to give the Armenian his dues. ..win, lose, or draw…he’s earned as much respect as Pavlik.

This is the Fight that should be coming our way, great match-up.Hope Abrahams stays Stateside awhile as he is soundly skilled and ,should Pavlik get by Hopkins...no given....Arthur is even money, maybe better, easily Imo.With respect to all too gutty and upset minded Raul Marquez....Abrahams will shine and dictate in that 'showcase' but Pavlik is a whole nother beast.

Hey Wack....Pavlik was able to outbox Jermain Taylor AND whip Edison Miranda's ass WITHOUT getting his jaw cracked in half...and he didn't back down after those big fights either.

I still doubt Abraham's ability to beat top level fighters he has ONLY beaten Edison Miranda and it's not like he hasn't had the option to fight a Jermain Taylor or anyone else (especially in Europe...Sturm, Asikainen, Sylvester, etc)

Why does Abraham get hated on because he is fighting a mandatory in Marquez who actually earned his spot. While Pavlik gets love for fighting lockett who did nothing to get the shot at that title, and hopkisn who is there because of his name.

If there is anyone who is fighting people who earn their shot its Abraham whether its a name you like or not.

Don't hate on Abraham if you aren't gonna hate on Pavlik

    Eastman?

I remember the Eastman fight being pretty close but Abraham has improved alot since then .

I wouldnt count him out against Pav . Abraham is a close number 2 but Pav is number 1 IMO.

Without a doubt the only class acts in the division but Kelly I feel is the more proven fighter fighting the stiffer competition and making his wins look impressive and at times easy. AA best win was against a weaker Miranda than Kelly fought. Everyones overlooking that he could very well lose to Raul Marquez a crafty hard headed vet. I'm not dissing AA at all I actually like him alot, and yes He is the only 1 at 160 that could make a competative fight.
