Default So, who wins a Darchinyan-Montiel fight

    Thoughts?

I tend to think Montiel, for one while he can box he's got the power to hurt Vic that Mijares was lacking. But I tended to think Mijares and that didn't work out too well. Montiel has flaked out before and gone too conservative and timid (Mark Johnson, Jhonny Gonzalez) and who knows maybe Vic could force him into that.

Lately he has been more of the type of fighter that goes after you and tries to get you out of there and obviously Vic is that way to an extreme so this could be good.

I didn't leave a poll, I get bored with people who vote and don't explain why.

It could be a close fight. They both did about the same v Gorres.

Montiel wouldn't mess around with Vic, Montiel would give Darchinyan something to think about at the front door, try to beat him to the punch which Montiel could almost certainly do and Montiel punches in volume. He can get in a combination the then leave, give you hell at the front door and once you get inside leave out the side door. It wasn't the best showing for Montiel tonight to say the least but I think he would win.

Of course he isn't exactly impossible to hit and we'd have to see how he reacted but I think he would have loads more success offensively then Mijares.

Um well the guy just wouldn't lay off of him he was never really able to get his feet set and it cost him in terms of his early accuracy and overall level of crispness but he got it together over the last rounds to get a decision. TV and judges had it a shutout but it probably wasn't and there were multiple close rounds.

Hell I might favor Vic, I don't know, as good as Montiel looked against Castillo I'm not sure how much that really meant as I'm not sure Castillo had much to offer at that point, and he looked shoddy when he fought on Versus that time.

Watching Vic fight is horrible IMO, up there with Raheem but he's effective in his own way.

The Vic of last night was not near as bad as he's been in the past I hadn't seen him for a while. He wasn't half as stupidly goofy as he usually is.

It might be the one who will land first and I think Vic will be the first one to do damage... This fight might end in the earlier rounds (inside 6)...

Montiel likes to go toe-to-toe and it's pretty dangerous to do this with a puncher like Vic...
