Marciano fought the best that was out there at the time and KO'd pretty much all of them....never once did he coast to the finish line, he always wanted to please the crowd by giving them a KO.

Foreman demolished Joe Frazier who beat Muhammed Ali (once thought of as unbeatable) and therefore this made Frazier seemingly invincible and Foreman squashed him.

I agree with you about Liston but he also waited a long time for a title shot as there was only ONE title back then.

As for Calzaghe, I figure he'll continue fighters usually do that and losing only prolongs their careers if he was to do so he may spend 5 fights trying to clear off his legacy.

FAIR DUES KESSLER IS A GOOD FIGHTER BUT HE'S A BASIC STAND UP 1 DIMENTIONAL TYPE OF FIGHTER
Exactly! Glad to know there are other people on this board who know what Calzaghe is about. Good point on Kessler as well. He is a solid fighter...but he is stiff and conservative. That being said...he is the only noted, PRIME fighter Calzaghe has fought. Hell of a resume

I'm not saying I agree with you or anything but just as a point Ottke didn't want to leave Germany to fight anybody (much as up until recently Joe never wanted to leave England to fight anybody).

Calzaghe had lots of options earlier in his career to make a larger legacy for himself but so did RJJ, Eubank, Benn, Collins, Toney, Ottke, Michalczewski and Hopkins.

Calzaghe is a great fighter...love it or hate it. I want him to continue fighting because I have a feeling someday he's going to get sparked out cold much like RJJ did.
