Default So does anyone give Holyfield a chance?

He's facing off against Nikolay Valuev on December 20th.

Watching his rather sad performance at the hands of Sultan Ibragimov where he plooded around the ring and did nothing I really think this is going to be another pathetic and dreary defeat for Evander.

He shouldn't be getting this shot at all of course, I mean getting the first shot was dubious enough but to lose all 12 rounds near enough and then fight for another world title in your very next fight is rather ridiculous.

I'd love to see him win it but he's claiming he actually wants to defend it and let's face it if he faces either of the Klitchko's at this stage of his career he's likely to get seriously hurt

Holyfield doesn't have the power to take him out; matter of fact, he'll get tired simply from reaching up there to hit him in the chin. I don't see anyone taking out Valuev with a body shot. I see Valuev taxing those 45 year old legs until Evander is winded out of his mind.
    Oops

He will get hurt in this fight. Its a silly fight, Valuev is far too big and good for him at this later stage of Holyfields career. I think it will either be a late TKO or a very wide UD for Valuev. This is a joke fight in my eyes.

Holy might last the distance, but this really has a chance to be a fight from which he can later trace pugilistia dementia as a result of too many needless shots absorbed.

He doesn't have the firepower or the volume anymore.

I hope so. What would happen if Holyfield would win. The heavyweight division would be even more f**ked up but I would love it.

Murder is a strong word to throw about like that. It's more than just a death

I don't expect him to win but I don't see Valuev SERIOUSLY hurting Holyfield before the ref would have a chance to save him... Holyfield has more experience than that and other than being stupidly tall I don't think that Valuev really has the brutal sort of power to suddenly damge Holyfield to an extreme a point as you're implying.

I can't see him having the mobility to beat Valuev and I agree, he is likely to get hit a lot and hurt but I don't think the damage escalates as high as you are implying.

as for the Klitscho's... ouch as much as I love Evander... you've got nothing to prove to anybody... I think that's the problem though... he only wants to prove things to himself... let it go

Holyfield has little chance of winning. But if the deluded twit wants to try and get himself hurt then he's welcome to go ahead. Holyfield hasnt looked decent against anything other than tomato cans in years and years.

Valuev is nothing spectacular but he is too big and has a grasp of the fundamentals. Holyfield wont be able to get close enough, nor often enough, and will get tired with the effort.

If he's lucky Valuev might let him go the distance. I hope Valuev ends it for Holyfield properly though.

they say styles make fights but in this case holyfield is going to get the crap beat out of him. holyfield 10 years ago might have a chance but today there is no possible way he can win unless something crazy happens like valuv breaking his lag or taking a breakdown in the ring.

bottom line holyfield has no chance!

Unless Valuev has a horribly weak chin... then no, I don't give Holyfield a chance.

Valuevs chin has certainly looked reliable and its been over a decade since Evander knocked out a decent fighter so I think we can rule out a lucky punch .

This is boxing though and weve seen bigger upsets . Evander traded with prime Lewis , Tyson and Bowe. Valuev isnt fot to lace their boots but this version of Evander was stopped by James Toney .

Holyfield will find it easier to get in and out of range in this fight than he did vs Ibragimov . He will also find it easier to land his punches. I hope its a happy ending to a superb career but I fear the worst

I give Holyfield a chance of getting stopped.

He's got no chance. He's going to end up more brain dead than he already is.
