This doesn't surprise me much...Shane is a faster boxer than Cotto, he's not better but he can shoot off 3-4 punches and move the hell out of the way better than Cotto.

I would really like to see Margarito-De la Hoya....because I doubt Oscar can whip him

At least Berto has a good stepping stone in Mosley, I don't see Mosley giving him many troubles, he is too faster, too good, too hard to hit cleanly.

I don't think Margarito should have been fighting Mosley to begin with, Cotto beat Mosley convincingly in a tough fight, MAyweather might be coming back, Clottey stills deserves another shot, and of course Paul Williams beat Margarito, and has really redeemed his slip up against Quintana.

I just don't see Mosley ever having the tools to beat a guy like Margarito, he isn't a great mover, he's relatively easy to hit, and he doesn't deal well with taller guys that put a lot of pressure on him.

Im a person of principle and it seems like Tony is getting a gate pass for what Mayweather was getting crucified for.. and as big as a Tony fan as I am he is pissing away momentum by doing the same thing as he did with with mayweather.. Living and dying at Cotto's doorstep...

Tony is screwing up big time by not taking the 2 mill and asserting himself over Mosley.. He is taking his wear and tear and age to another year in anticipation of fighting Cotto and banking on no injury to either in the meantime, so if it dosent go to plan he gets older and slower and is screwed... total stupidity, Margarito needs Shane and his draw and $$$$$$$$ Tony on his best day would struggle to this to fill a VFW let alone a colesium.. TAKE THE DAMN FIGHT TONY!!!!!

Beat Shane increase your drawing power by defeating a living legend and have that much more momentum and popularity to generate more money and more demand for yourself

Not sure about the Berto v. Shane call, but other than that, I agree with the post.

    What do you guys think?

Sadly Diane I think you should feel gutted as it means he's holding out for a rematch with Cotto, and in all honestly he'll probably ruin him.

But look on the bright side, at least True Blood has been signed for a second season

I'm was shocked that Margo turned a fight with Mosley down!! The only reason I see him doing so is if he got a better deal or he took more damage from the Cotto fight than we can all see on the surface.

I read that Mosley is going to get a fight with Berto going now. That should also be a good one. Gotta love Shane! Always looking for a big fight!

i dont see why Margarito would even turn down that fight. so i guess he will fight Clottey again early next year then.

..i'm not sure of the reasoning behind any of this but i serioiusly doubt this whole fear theory. Floyd was in no way scared of tony and tony isn't scrared of mosely. Fear may be the reason in a small amount of cases but these guys are all warriors i don't think any of them are "scared" of any opponet or they wouldn't have made it this far in the first place. Any fight at this stage is gonna be rough.

You're right, it's not fear. It's calculation. On the very real possibility that Mosley could beat Margarito, Tony's people have decided against a lucrative fight he couldn't have put together on his own reputation for a HUGELY lucrative fight against a guy he already beaten and in all likelihood will beat again. So in other words, the 'most feared' guy is playing it 'safe'.
    Oops

I still think Margarito is being a bit of an idiot. There is probably nothing in the pipeline for early next year, so it seems he is holding out for the Cotto rematch which could be as late as next summer.

One fight in 2008?? All seems like such a waste. He wanted the recognition and to then not build on it by taking an extended time out is foolish. The guy most likely has another 3 years at the top. Maximum. And here he is trying his best to be inactive for what will be almost a year.

Some logic! Margarito might be able to take a punch, but there sure isnt much of a brain being rattled around.

    Exactly.

Better to stay in view and at least try to fight twice a year. Having a big win and then taking a year off is too indulgent and completely fails to build up any new momentum for his career. If you only have a good three years left, you dont take a gap year!!
