    Default Who beat Malignaggi better?

    Cotto or hatton ?

One guy stopped him the other couldnt. One guy floored him, the other couldnt. Was Cotto was fighting an undfeated prime Malignaggi and Hatton got his leftovers or was Hatton fighting an established champ and Coot got the green version ?

Its no brainer of course Ricky Hatton did, despite all of Paul Malignaggi's injuries against Miguel Cotto. He was always in the fight and even stunned Miguel Cotto a few times, and he won atleast 4 rounds.

Except for the 1st round Paul Malignaggi lost every single round against Ricky Hatton. He was totally outclassed in every aspect and looked on the verge of quitting at the end.

The only reason Hatton didn't get a KD was because Malignaggi managed to grab hold of him on the way down.

Yeah I think Cotto and Hatton kind of put on a different pressure as well.. Hatton fought a really great fight, and kept a lot of pressure on and gave PM no chance at all to get his work happening.. Cotto wasn't as relentless and PM had a bit of freedom to get into his rhythm, but when Cotto landed some big shots, Paulie wasn't in a position to save himself and went down from harder blows...
People on the stream I was watching the fight on were saying Hatton is better than Cotto because Paulie looked better against Cotto than he did Hatton... Hatton was better against Paulie that Cotto was and nullified Paulie's game much better on the night.. But I wouldn't say that makes him any better than Cotto.. Style's make fights as they say...

    oh please....

The answer to this question came from Malignaggi's own mouth after the fight.

Didn't he just say Cotto hurt him more?

First time Hatton landed cleanly Paulie was on queer street. After that he just grabbed hold.

You have to say Hatton. Cotto fight might have been more brutal, but it was a much closer fight. Paulie won 4/5 rounds against Cotto and he stunned him.

Paulie is supposed to be a better fighter now with the world title fights under his belt, but he was outclassed big time last night. He was outboxed, out sped, out fought. The speed that Hatton closed the distance had Paulie hesitating, and Paulie didn't want to throw anything of his own because he was scared of what would come back.

A novice (in comparison) Paulie broke his hand and cheekbone(i think) against Cotto and still made it really competitive. Hatton anhialated him.

    EXACTLY!

We also have to consider that Cotto broke his hand in the fifth round so basicly Paulie was defending himself against a one armed man from rounds 5 1/2 to 12. What is really shocking is that Hatton's faces was all bruised How can you suffer lumps and bruises from a guy who hits like a girl? I did not see anything new from Hatton other than patience but Paulie was taking a play out of the Mayweather Jr. play book and ducking and grabbing Hatton by the head like Floyd did. Paulie is Cotto's damaged goods. Pualie has never been the same since then. If Malignaggi and Hatton are the best of the 140 lb division, I think this division is weak as phuk. I thought the fight was pretty boring but it was not Hatton's fault of course because it was Paulie who was doing most of the hit and hold but Hatton likes to do a little of that himself but I dont consider his style hit and hold it's more like hit, hold, hit, hold and maul your opponent which is different from what Paulie has to do since he is not considered an inside fighter.

So who beat Paulie down worse? Cotto had this kid beaten like a pulp in under 5 rounds and the only thing that saved Paulie was the fact that Cotto broke his hand. End of.

I'm not a Cotto or Hatton groupie, but I do think Cotto gave him a greater beating, but this is tied into the fact the Malignaggi chose to engage more in the Cotto fight (although he he did still hold a lot). The stoppage is irrelavant. I almost feel bad for Ricky here though, he gave one of the best performances of his career, he deserved to have someone fight back and put some effort in.

The hatton fight was more one sided .

The cotto fight was more competitive but Paulie took more punishment.

I give the edge to Hatton though.

Hatton took all the rounds except for 1 and schooled paulie.

But Cotto broke his FACE and sent his ass to the hospital.

    so Cotto did.

either way both beat the crap outta him so who cares Paulie still lost.

i know paulie was out scored by Hatton thats why i said he schooled him.

but it depents on how you define BEAT i guess. if u think beat is schooling the shit out of him then its Hatton.

if u look at paulie after the cotto fight and then look at him after the Hatton fight then tell me which paulie looks more fuked up.
