For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
Round 2:
McCloskey and Lynes fall short with some early jabs, but a couple of body shots from McCloskey. Lyne comes forward, but gets caught. McCloskey getting caught with a right hook, and gets a flurry off and McCloskey looks rattled. Remember he had Branco down early last time. McCloskey brings his hands up, and lands a left hook as Lynes comes forward. Uppercut from McCloskey, but he;'s a little more wary now. Left down the middle from McCloskey, and a graze in te centre of McCloskey's forehead. Jab from Lynes, and blocks the riposte. Couple of short hooks from Lynes, then a straight right, but McCloskey misses. McCloskey with a good hard right-left combo. Exciting stuff so far.
Lynes' effort in the first half shades it for me, but McCloskey not afraid and firing back. 20-18
Round 3:
Jab and a hook from Lynes. Lynes with a straight right catching McCloskey off balance, but two hooks returned by McCloskey. McCloskey is evasive, but still getting caught. Jab from Lynes, then a clinch and they both throw some short scrappy. Right hook form McCloskey having some success, and he bats at Lynes's head in the clinch. McCloskey with a left hook, then a right as he tempts Lynes in. Left hook again, and a right as Lynes tries to advance. McCloskey growing well into this one now, and he's making Lynes look slow. Lynes charges into a clinch, but fails to land. Jabs miss form Lynes, and he's frustrated in that one.
29-28
Round 4:
Lynes pushing out a few cautious jabs. and throwing to the body. McCloskey's uppercross left lands again, and that's a very nice looking punch. To the body from McCloskey, but Lynes with a right hook. McCloskey still a little wild with some hooks. Body shots from Lynes, then another flurry, and Lynes having a bit more luck there. Body shots then a right up top from Lynes. Body shot from McCloskey and a jab as Lynes comes in. More lefts to the body, but Lynes puts the money in the bank with another couple to the body. McCloskey evades a few more and comes back with some jabs, and a body shot as Lynes advances. McCloskey a bit like Carl Froch, gets caught with a right hook, but fires right back with a left as he's caught.
McCloskey settling down into this one, good round for him again.

Body shot form McCloskey pushes Lynes backwasds. Left from Lynes, then a couple of body shots. Left hook from McCloskey, and he's catching Lynes on the way in. McCloskey with a left, but two hooks back from Lynes. McCloskey the quicker man, and Lynes takes another left. Body shots from Lynes, and that's where Lynes is getting some success. Another left hook from McCloskey, as he ulls his head back out of range. McCloskey is making Lynes miss, and catching him with some very good shots. Body shots from Lynes as he looks to get in close. Two more hooks from McCloskey, and an uppercut as the come out of the clinch.

Round 6:
Jabs from Lynes, but McCloskey's lefts are very good. Lenys lands a jab, but McCloskey gets in a body shot then an overhand right. Jab and body shot form Lynes, then gets in close and puts in some digs in the body. Jab from Lynes, and McCloskey misses as Lynes ducks in again. Good uppercut from McCloskey, which could be a big punch for him later on. Jab form McCloskey, and Lynes falls short, but a second Lynes jab lands. Body shots from Lynes, but McCloskey lands a couple more hooks, then a good jab. Lynes is clinching and digging in. Two body shots from Lynes Land, and a jab, but McCloskey misses going in. Two hooks from Lynes, and Lynes then avoids a couple of jabs ducking back to the ropes. Right from Lynes on the bell.
Lynes' round that one, McCloskey's workrate dropped.
57-57
Round 7:
Scrappy start with nothing much in it. Body shots from McCloskey, but a left lands from Lynes. Three straight shots pierce the guard from Lynes, and some body shots. Body shots from Lynes, and ducking his head sends some McCloskey shots over him. Good right hooks from McCloskey, and he comes forward encouraged. Right from Lynes, but McCloskey's left lands, then a right hook, and it gets into a clinch again. Body shots from Lynes, and a good right hook, then ducks some MCCloskey shots land. Right from McCloskey, but Lynes fires back. Lynes on the rope, but McCloskey missing, or not lending flush. Huge right uppercut hits the button, but Lynes fires back once more.
McCloskey's round, as he picks up the workrate once more.
67-66
Round 8:
Lynes' corner concerned. McCloskey opens with the jab. A couple more, and Lynes clinches from the ropes. Another uppercut digs to Lynes' chest. Straight left from McCloskey, and Lynes is circling the ropes now. Jab from McCloskey. Cagier round this one. Body shot from Lynes, and a stragith right, and McCloskey comes back with a body shot of his own. Lynes walks through an uppercut to land a right, but McCloskey's shot was better. Straight left then a right hook from McCloskey. Right uppercut from Mccloskey, then a flurry of good shots from McCloskey, finishing with a great overhand right. McCloskey walking forward now. and contemptuously slaps him out of a clinch.
McCloskey's got the driving seat all to himself.

Right down the middle from Lynes, and a jab, but McCloskey fires back into the guard. Body shot from Lynes, but Lynes takes another left. Right uppercut digs in once more into Lynes, and a body shot. Lynes fires to the body himself, and ducks under a McCloskey shot. Right hook from Lynes, but takes a couple of body shots from McCloskey. Right hook from McCloskey again Jab from Lynes, but he's pushing shots, and McCloskey lands two good hooks, and Lynes in trouble. Right from McCloskey, who trips through the ropes. Lynes comes back with a flurry to the body, and a second one. Lynes coming back, and ducks some mccloskey shots. Rigth hook from Lynes, but McCloskey's the one looking dangerous.
McCloskey so dominant, I'm close to giving it 10-8, but for now, 87-84. At the end of the ninth, Paul Cook, Lynes' trainer, calls Mickey Vann, and calls off the fight. McCloskey looked a bit lazy at times, but a very classy performance all in all, and a deserved victory.

McCloskey looks absolutely chuffed with that one, and I think for Lynes it was the elusive style of McCloskey that was decisive. Lynes had him rattled in the second, but couldn't land enough to get him in trouble again.
Great for the northern irish youngster, and no doubt he'll be up with David Barnes soon enough to give us another look at him.
