Default Vic Darchinyan v. Fernando Montiel and other Raging Bull Praise

Vic holds 3/4 belts at 115 pounds. Assuming Montiel beats Morel, who do you think wins in a fight between Vic and Montiel? Can Vic beclome unified flyweight champion? Does Vic break the top ten p4p with his win over Arce? Will a win over Montiel mean a top ten p4p? Can anyone at 115 beat Vic?

I've only seen two Montiel fights but I don't think he's any better than Mijares. Maybe he hits a bit harder but I don't see him beating Vic. The thing is with Vic, he may be in against much more skilled boxers but after a couple of rounds of being hit with that big left they're not the same anymore. He negates their skills with his relentless power. I want to see a Donaire rematch rather than Montiel anyway.

montiel will get stomped, i don't see it going any other way. I don't know what this little guy is eating but it's working. Darchinyan loosing might have been a bad thing for the other little guys in his division. I think he's learned a lot.

I agree, Vic has learned a lot since losing and apart from a few moments where his crab like style returned against Arce he has been totally dominant in his last 3 fights against top opposition.
Montiel will not beat him, he will not withstand the onslaught from Vic who has to be the hardest puncher out there in this division.
Bring on a Donaire rematch as well, remember 2 judges had that fight even up until the KO and Donaire won with a one punch knockout. I would like to see if he can do it again. 2009 is Vic's year, he is 33 and he will want Montiel, Donaire and a possible Bantam title by this time next year. It's rare that the little guys go beyond age 34 and keep on winning title matches so time is running out for Vic. Stay well clear of the Super Bantams as Juanma, Marquez or Vasquez would take him out.

No matter what you think of him and his antics....Vic is a brutal force and a pretty sharp counter puncher with heavy hands,Has rebounded in a big way from face first KO to Donaire and merits boo-koo respect and has earned it,just that simple.I picked Mijares to outbox him....whoops .Thought Arce would hang with him but Vic would be to strong,so ok.I think his key with Montiel will be those hell bent uppercuts underneath on Montiel and must tighten up his defence.

I think VD nailed it on Montiels transformation from boxer type to more assertive boxer/puncher who takes a few.He has recouprative powers big time and can turn it back on a guy with a vengence (See FOTY candidate with Melendez).I think Montiel brings the best of both worlds against Vic.Still can display fast combination punching mixed well to head and body as well as quick footwork, stance shifts and angles. With a piss and vinager mentality to boot, willing and very able to bring some power, ecspecially to body and a left hook that will be key.I think Vic is suseptible to Left hooks in a bad way, stunned a couples of times by looping lefts from Arce.I see Montiel landing as such and he can be a very damaging finisher with fast combos.I think he keeps it diciplined and counters the counter puncher,If he hurts Vic,I think he finishes him.Not easy and a superb fight, very fan friendly scrap.
