It was a nasty forehead cut. Usually when Marco gets cut, it coagulate right away.
like micheal gomez said khan is a world class fighter with world class vunerablities. with roach tho i think they could bring a good defence into amirs game to compensate for his chin.well to the kid. i think he can be a big player in world boxing
Ok, well just to make it clear, let me tell you my intention. You are flogging a dead horse. How many threads do you need to say 'Barrera didn't lose, he wuz robbed he wuz guv'? (I'm well aware that represents neither the pattern of your writing nor most probably your speech)
Seriously Miles, its tedious, yes the cut was a disadvantage, but so what, any fighter getting in the ring knows that's a risk, if it had happened to Khan you wouldn't be saying Barrera didn't earn the victory. Seriously subtract your feelings about MAB, and whatever issue it is you have with Khan, and just accept that Khan did what HE needed to do to win. Barrera knew the score if the cut was that bad he could've called it quits & got a NC. He didn't. So accept it Khan won.
Good points Jaz and actually I think the cut if anything was GOOD for Barrera as it's given him a way out and the chance to lose without his reputation suffering.
I have no doubt Barrera was going to lose that fight cut or no cut, Khan was just better on the night in every single department.
He didn't beat a prime Barrera, he didn't beat a Barrera in his natural weight class, but he DID clearly beat the 35 year old version of Barrera fighting at lightweight, and would do if they were to fight again.
I can't be sure, but I think miles may be drunk. If so, let this be a warning to all trees and apartment door numbers out there. You were warned.![]()
I stand by my statements. I might be repeating myself on different threads but the same issues keep arising. If the same thing happened to Khan my response would be the same, namely that it is inconclusive and deserving of a rematch. There is nothing difficult about that.
I thought Khan looked awesome. Great offensive prowess and improving defense. To be honest, I never expected much from Barrera tonight (you can check my predictions on that) and I hope he does retire from the fighting part of the game.
What impressed most was how Khan handled the pressure of this event. He was in with a big name opponent who many in the crowd wanted him to lose to in a make or break fight, but he stuck to his game and showed enormous confidence and style. He really put that loss to Prescott behind him.
Even though Barrera was not the old Barrera, Khan passed a major test tonight.
