For argument's sake let's just say it isn't shown back in the UK then it will just highlight everything what's wrong with the sport and the lack of mainstream TV exposure.

Note: This is not to derail this thread or to bring some other boxer to the topic...

Maybe boxing needs a shot in the arm... Any mainstream exposure, be it on mainstream news magazine or mainstream TV I think will help boxing...

Give Froch his credit, like he says in that article, he probably could have fought a no-name in Nottingham and received domestic television coverage, but as his first title defense he chose to travel as an underdog to the US to fight a tough opponent. He's doing a lot more than Kessler is these days.
    Exactly.

Whether or not people like Froch he should be praised for taking this path. If he loses he will get slaughtered from all sides.

If he loses - say in a split decision or on points but closely - and gives a good showing of himself, he shouldn't be slaughtered at all. He should be credited for taking the fight on foreign soil and Taylor should grant him a rematch. If not, he should land another title fight with Bika.

If he is blown out, then to a certain extent, he will deserve the criticism because he is consistently arrogant, disrespectful, and talks too much trash.

Wonder what his reaction would be if he lost?

Taylor is a big step up for Froch and I give him credit for taking the fight. However, he has implied that he wants to be remembered in the same light as other great British champs so this is a fight he needs in order to attain that kind of recognition. He's in his early 30s, so I can't imagine he has a ton of time left in the sport and as such taking an easy fight in his hometown would do nothing to secure him big paydays and the accolades he seems to lust after.

If he beats Taylor, the 3rd best SMW in the world, I will give him all kinds of credit. Like you said, even if he's very competitive in defeat he deserves to be commended.

I don't think he should be derided even if he does get blown out. True, he runs his mouth and that has made him unpopular, but many fighters do so. Even if he does get starched by Taylor or completely outclassed, I'll still give him respect for taking the step up in competition and defending his belt against a world-class opponent. I still don't like Froch and I'll be cheering for Taylor to beat him, but I don't really see how he can be looked down upon for losing this fight.

I'm hoping that Setanta gets the Premiership rights away from Sky as that also gives em more money towards buying big boxing fights.
Premiership rights are split into six packages. Setanta used to have two, Sky had the other four. But in the latest auction Setanta lost one, so they're now on really shaky financial ground and don't have a lot of money to spend.

Froch is not worth ppv. He should be free on ITV even if it is at 3am.

Yeah, I know how it works, but the Premier League are trying to push for all 6 to be with Sky (this won't happen as it violates EU law of competition rights). Hopefully Setanta will find a way to get the other package, and make a bit more money. They should also look to invest in something like Italian football to bring other viewers in, as the German & Portuguese leagues just ain't doin it

This should be on the telly! I'm not a Froch fan by any means but it is a pretty big fight. The home punters deserve the opportunity to see domestic fighters on the world scene. A shame if only Radio 5 is covering it.

That's true. But i think deep down inside the UK knows Fraud is crap.

I think Froch will stop Taylor infact i'm convinced he'll batter him
Absolutely criminal if us Brits miss this and he's our only World Champ at present and was in my FOTY by a mile last year against Pascal.
ITV are skint so forget them, Sky won't touch him either which only leaves Setanta who are also in huge financial trouble.

    Doesn't look to clever really

This will only spur him on and make him train harder imo.

Hopefully should be numerous live streams via the web anyway so the clever ones among us should get too see it!

Froch isn't the only British "world" champ, Smash.

Hatton is THE MAN at 140 and The Ring champ. Hatton has been stripped and given back his silly alphabet titles never lost any in the ring
