1: Tommy Hearns had two popular nicknames, what were they?

The Motor City Cobra and The Hitman

2: What was the promotional name of Leonard/DuranIII? (e.g.the first fight was called The Brawl in Montreal)

    Uno Mas (One More)

3: Smokin' Joe Frazier also enjoyed singing (badly IMO), what was the name of his group?

    Joe Frazier and his Knockouts

4: What sport, (other than boxing), did Frank Bruno mention in his post fight interview following his loss to Mike Tyson in 1989?

    Cricket (That's Cricket!)

5: Larry Holmes too, had two career nicknames, what were they?

Easton Assassin and The Big Black Cloud

6: What was Matthew Saad Muhammad's original name? (think)

Muhammad did indeed change his name from Matt Franklin to Matt Saad Muhammad, but his original name was Maxwell Antonio Loach, he was given the name Matt Franklin by the Nuns of the Catholic Social Services, after he was found on the streets (aged 5).

7: Why did Muhammad Ali go to jail?

    Driving without a valid licence!

8a: What was the name of the group Frank Warren set up, to rival the British Boxing Board of Control sanctioning of legal professional boxing fights in the U.K.?

    National Boxing Council (NBC)

b: What was the main reason(s) for this coming about?

Because the BBB of C refused to join the WBA and sanction WBA title fights in Britain. Thus Warren threatened to join the WBA (under the NBC), as the British representative of the WBA, thus giving him some legal status to sanction fights in Britain.

In the end the BBB of C backed down and agreed to join the WBA and Warren agreed to join the BBB of C as a promoter.

Warren threatened again to leave the BBB of C when they refused to sanction Terry Marsh's IBF title bid, but again the matter was resolved.

9: The Substitutes: Below is a list of fights, but the fighter on the right was not the original scheduled opponent, so, who was?

    'Sugar' Ray Leonard/Dick Ecklund

Believe it or not Tommy Hearns

    Duke McKenzie/Juan Herrera

McKenzie was due to fight WBA Flyweight champ Sot Chitalda

    Barry McGuigan/Stevie Cruz

Fernando Sosa; Sosa pulled out with a detached retina

Tim Whitherspoon/James 'Bonecrusher' Smith (the 1986 match)

Tony Tubbs pulled out with a Shoulder Injury

    Mike Tyson/James 'Buster' Douglas

Jose Ribalta was meant to get a rematch with Iron Mike, but looked so bad beating Jeff Sims in his previous fight; King decided to put Douglas in, who beat another Journeyman on the undercard by the name of Oliver McCall.

    Riddick Bowe/Jesse Ferguson

Ray Mercer (Ray of course loss to Ferguson, but late on in the fight tried to bribe the Boogieman to lose)

10: What were the names of the first Black fighters to win a world title*, in each of the classic eight weight divisions?

Heavyweight: Jack Johnson (1908); but Peter Jackson does have a claim from 1892

Light Heavyweight: Battling Siki (1922); but Sammy Langford has a claim from 1911

Middleweight: Tiger Flowers (1926) but again Langford has a claim from1907

Welterweight: Henry Armstrong (1938); but there were claims by Joe Walcott (1897); Dixie Kid (1904); Jack Blackburn (1908)

    Lightweight: Joe Gans (1902)

Featherweight: George Dixon (1893) although Dixon first had a claim in 1890

Bantamweight: 'Panama' Al Brown (1929) although George Dixon had a claim from 1889

Flyweight: I believe that to be Peter Mathebula (1980) a WBA champ.
