I was like what the hell is goingon with Federer. I then went to lift some wieghts and after being in there for awhile popped my head in to check the score and Federer had came back and won that set and was about to win the fourth for the watch. I was impressed.

Yeah Fed was on the ropes with Jose. He's played Jose before, bt that was the 1st time on clay I think. You never know how another opponent will be on clay vs. hardcourt, and I think it threw him off. I knew Rog would win, if it had to go to a 5 setter; he didn't seem to be panicking. His stats for the game were actually pretty good, and he played some amazing defense when he had to.

I liked the fact it pushed him; Fed always plays better in a major if he is pushed in the tourny, by the time he gets to he finals he is on par. Only problem is so is Nadal. But last year Fed didn't have a tough draw and got steamrolled by Rafa; at least the 2 previous years he was pushed to play better tennis leading up to the finals and made it more competitive, though he lost

I still think Novak will beat Fed in the 1/4's; that kid has become a monster on clay; and everyone seems tof orget about Verdasco.
Novak will beat Fed im sure of that, the problem is Acasuso is having one of his worst years ever and is in horrible form and he gave Federer a scare, like i said Nadal is to god over 5 sets no ones winning 3 out of 5 sets against Nadal on clay no chance.

On another note Murray won today hate the guy but hes fighing spirit is quality could make the semis to play Nadal with a bit of luck that would be a great achievement.

Acasuso is a hit and miss kind of player; never know whenhe'll bring a game. Credit to Roger though for doing what he's SUPPOSED to do though. He really would have bee crying had he lost to Jose

I like Murray. Guy has a great game, very fit physically, and has finally stopped his moping and whining and overall sh#tty attitude. Had a great year. I used to hate him because of his wanker attitude. Istill wonder though if he will ever win a major; maybe a couple but I see him as someone who might not ever hit the pinnacle; a step above a Davydenko if you will. He is a fighter but today Tipsy quit at the end of the second set and retired, so easy day.

Glad Venus got her ass whooped. Now if only Sharapova and Serena will fail. Only oneIgive a shit about is Safina, love that girl. The women's sideis dismal though. Ivanovich is a one hit wonder; Jankovich is B+ player.

Nadal could win this FO for the next 4-5 years in a row; amazing talent.

Novaks out! I'm surprised did not see that coming at all what an upset. Looks like we might see another Nadal\Fed final. Roddicks been playing pretty good tennis so far, but he always ends up blowing it. I wouldnt' mind seeing him win it (long shot I know) I think the last american to win was Agassi in 99 so about 10 years.

Very suprised Djokovic got beat big upset that, yes looks like another Nadal/Fed final with Nadal winning again, Murray Cillic will be a cracker tomorrow, Cilic beat Murray in the Juniors 2005, could be a tricky game for Murray, i think Roddick is playing very well right now but id fancy Monfils to beat him on clay in the next round.

Roddick will never win another Major; he's a one hit wonder. Monfils should beat him in 3 straight, maybe Andy takes a set off him.

LOL at Novak; doing his usual pouting, crying to the umpire that the court wasplaying like a hardcourt

Cilic/Murray will be a good one; I actually got Cilic winning.

Most likely Fed/Nadal. Ihpe Fed can at least return to a 2006 FO form; instead of a dismal final like last year. At least Fed can get to the finals over and over. Novak Jokeab#tch Wanker cry baby.

Just looked at the odds and Nadal is 100-1 odds onn to beat Soderling in his next match. Not bad odds in a 2 horse race

Why the f*ck can't Blake ever make it out of the first round on the French Open?!

I'm actually happy this thread has so many people talking about it. I always thought it was just Me and Legion that talked about tennis. Other than boxing, this tied with Football for being my next favorite sport to watch.

My head says Nadal will win, but my heart goes with Roddick.

For the women's side, I think Ivanovic may take it, but I would love to have a threesome with Ivanovic and Sharapova (had to throw that in there).

Nadal is unstoppable on clay! Federer may be playing with something to prove this upcoming Wimbledon but Nadal has proven he just as good on that surface. That guy is scary good!

I agree Miles I wouldn't mind seeing Federer snatch a french open title before he retires.

I have also always been a fan of Roddick mainly because he's from the US but he just never puts it all togehter all he really has is the serve and that only gets you so far.
The clay court just makes Roddick's strengths that much weaker. I'm a Roddick fan too! And I believe (but I gradually believe less and less each slam) he can pull another one out.

He does look a little off lately, probably due to him playing so much tennis this year.

I'll take Nadal, hard to bet against someone who has dominated for 4 years; but it could be Novak or Verdasco's year if Nadal runs empty.

On te women's side I want Safina to win; otherwise I couldn't care less. As long as Maria "Big Bird" Sharapova or those hood rat sisters Serena and Venus don't win.
I actually don't want to see Fed win the career grand slam. Nothing personal, I just like knowing Agassi is the only modern day player to have done that. (If you didn't know, Agassi is probably my favorite athlete ever). Plus, him and his wife are the only two tennis players with Career Golden Grand Slam titles as singles players. I don't think they'll find company in that category ever...

Looks like Nadal is gettting a run for his money at this very moment. I'm sure he will pull it out interesting though. A few top guys have really struggled this far.

And Nadal is out!!!! Soderling brought his A-game; took down Rafa in 4 sets. Shocking!!! He has to be fuming he lost to a guy he doesn't like after that Wimbledon they played with Soderlin making fun of him.....

Well Fed will step it up and see this as his oppurtunity to take it, now that his nemesis is gone. Will be funny if Fed gets knockd out by Haas tomorrow. Kind of open now. Go Fed!!!! Or Gonzalez, Murray or Verdasco.

King of Clay just got dethroned

Wow I can't believe that. It really is open now. Incredible how the tops dogs are getting taken out. I wouldn't be surprised if Monfils gets by Roddick tomorrow then he mihgt take the whole thing. Don't get me wrong I want Roddick to Win but the chances of that are slim to none.

Murray or Verdasco (even though hes down a set right now) could surprise us all to. Like you said Legion it really is wide open.

I have come to like Monfils; but he is still hit and miss. No way he takes it; his fitness over the long haul has always been in question. Tsonga would beat him 1st. Verdasco is a beast. Murray won't win here; clay just isn't his surface ye; though he is playing good. Gonzales will probably beat Murray as he is hot right now. It is open though ad exciting. feelbad for Rafa; hate seeing that undefeatedrecord go. But I realy want Fed to get this one before the poor guy has a nervous breakdown in front of the whole world Good stuff; this week will be lots of fun. Ivanovich is out thankfully; mental midgit. She's a one-hit wonder and I'm glad Azarenka spanked her Go Safina!!!!!!

Ubelievable, still taking it in ! Not only was Nadal beaten but he was OUTPLAYED throughout the whole match. Its not even like he played badly, Soderling was just absolutely immense. Never seen a guy make Rafa chase so much and then deliver the coup de grace. He owned him in the last tiebreak.

Bookies had Soderling at 100/1 before the match !

Yeah; I think Nadal is tired after this season, but even so Soderling just outplayed him. Immense fh and double backhand hitting; Nadal was having hell catching up to Soderlings serve. Just one of them things. The best match Soderling ever played; and credit to him for keeping his shit together and not letting the moment catch up to him and losin his composure. Soderling did not want a 5th set. There is no love lost between them lol. I'm still in shock.

So this more than twice as big of an upset as Douglas beating Tyson

So much for me voicing that I didn't want Fed to get that Career Grand Slam. I think as soon as the news hit Fed that Nadal lost, he got a boost of energy and confidence. Not exactly what you want him feeling.
