Good fight, nothing wrong with ortiz's decision those were some bombs he took
9 times out of 10 those are the bandwagon fans, and seriously that's something that irks me, i'm not a huge fan of any fighter in specific right now, but i'm a fan of many, let me correct that, i'm not an unbiased fan of ANY fighter, hate all this turning on the guy and kicking him when they're down, but quickly get on the bandwagon when they have a huge win in the future, that kind of shit is utter nonsense

Her pretty much said he quit in his interview with max kellerman. (which he did not have to do, since it was the doctor that stopped the fight).

But it was funny when his corner was pretty much like: "just say anything, or I am going to stop this fight; just respond in any way."

Oritz did not say a word, and called his corner's bluff.

What happened to this great prospect that Pacdbest2 himself had predicted great things for?

What's the main reason you are a fan of Erik Morales?

That was a bit mean, but I just found it funny.

Ortiz had always looked decent but that was all. He was being built up and tonight got found out. I was surprised he quit as easily as that. The Vargas comparison was a good one. Too much, too soon and without a way to cope.

his willingness to take on the best and never turn away from any challenge, but even he knew when it was too much (PAC III) and there is no shame in it, i mean if the fight was pretty even and you just flat out quit, then ok no prob, but if you're pretty much gettin your ass handed to you (and Ortiz was getting mauled by the right hands, and don't think things were gonna get any better for him), all i know is i'd rather see him go out the way he did and fight another day than to have another Oscar Diaz

vic is young, I remember a couple years back jt said something similar after a fight, conteplating retirement or something...and everyone was like wtf cause he wasn't even thirty yet...vic showed a good amount of heart, got of the canvas...seriously nothing wrong with callin it quits when he did. Also yes he may have had enormous hardships in his personal life, that doesn't have to transfer to the ring...I've had a pretty tough life but that don't mean I wouldn't stay down after the first knockdown...it's a different kind of heart and fortitude just having one doesn't also mean you have the other. altho I'd say victor has both. Also the people that call him a quioter and since the comparison already came up with vargas...would you have rather vic made it to the 12th round only to take more punishment and pretty much never be the same fighter again and ruin what ever potential he has...

A bit unfair Ortiz thread here. He put out a very entertaining fight, and that's all matters to me.

Sure it's a road bump for him. But I still see his bright future.

Was disappointed in performance and attitude; oh well find another job if heart only resides when you win.

An exciting fight with a disappointing end. For growing up with a tough upbringing, Ortiz didn't show the heart a Mexican fighter typically has. Especially when fighting as the headliner in the town that supports you, He said he didn't want to go out on his back, well to me it would have been more respectable than turning his back and shaking his head. We've all seen fighters go on with cuts worst than that (Cotto fought 9 rds. with Colotty) Ortiz must dig deep and find the passion that got him recognized

I'm not gonna jump on the guy, but his interview called into question how much he's really into this IMO.

I think you are being harsh. This was always going to be a tough fight but maybe he was not quite ready for it. Reminds me of Vargas

No way. Vargas would never go out like Ortiz did. Never

Yeah Vargas might be annoying, might have come up short against most of the top guys but he had balls.

Gerald McClellan didn't know when to quit against Nigel Benn. He's only partially deaf, blind, in a wheel chair, with brain damage and struggling to pay his medical bills. And he also had Nigel Benn helped him raise money to pay for his medical bills in one of those fundraisers.

The fans that were calling McClellan so brave in fighting to get brain damage sure as hell didn't give a damn about what happened to him after that bout with Benn. Victor should look out for himself first, not the fan's lust to see him get brain damage.
