Mayweather has already foregone any respect he might have earned with this fight win, lose or draw. His actions are a disgrace. This fight has always been marketed as a catch weight fight and a day before the fight we all find that Mayweather was a good kilo beyond that and wasn't even interested in trying to make it.

Mayweathers stock has fallen whether his supporters like it or not. Making a fight with a Lightweight was bad enough, but to now emphasise the size polarity even more with this carry on is sickening. Mayweather can blame his lack of popularity on race as much as he likes but the simple truth is that is his own selfish actions that make people loath him.

Now every fighter should put in some kind of million dollar a pound penalty whenever they fight Mayweather because he is obviously a snake who will do whatever he can to get an advantage whether we the public like it or not.

People bringing up Mayweathers last minute contract changes are failing to realise that this information should have been made clear much sooner. If indeed it ever existed at all. It all points to Mayweather never having had any intention of trying to make 144 pounds.

I picked Marquez to win purely on emotion and I'm sure 90% of the boxing world feels the same way. Come on Marquez, pull out something special and we can all forget about this Mayweather prick!

This fight is not entirely different than Hatton-Castillo. The man that was a natural fighter at one weight beats a fighter who is just as good but not as strong. I know Castillo was a little past it, but he lost mainly because he was fighting a stronger man and got overpowered as the rounds went by. The sentiments were about the same going into that fight. After the fight though, the fight meant very little. Floyd will likely win, but it proves nothing. Except that Floyd is a welterweight. Now if JJM wins, that will prove a lot.

People know how highly I think of Mayweather, I am still super excited to see this fight live(I am flying out in 4 hours), but what I highlighted tells my feelings exactly. What a piece of shit. This IMO is the shit I would expect from a total coward. All the shit about Margarito, Mosley, Cotto, Pacquiao, and Mayweather ducking them, I thought the fights he made were challenging and worthy, this fight as much as any of them. However, sometimes its not about the caliber of opposition or even moving up or down in weight, its being a true warrior. I don't care if you talk trash, act like an ass, fight defensively. I respect anybody who is willing to come in and face another really good fighter on a fair playing field. Up until now MAyweather has always done that, but now he is a pussy. I am not going to Mayweather because I think he is too good of a fighter, and I love his style, but him renegging on this fight IMO makes him a scumball, I will hate him as a person regardless of what he does from here on out. I love the game, but hate the player. I still don't think anyone out there can come close to beating him, but this really dampens my mood.

Actually, forget what I was wittering on about in that last couple of sentences. The fight was for 144 pounds whether anyone likes it or not. The fact that there was a financial penalty thrown in possibly at the last minute does not excuse Mayweather whatsover. He has disregarded both Marquez and all boxing fans with what he has done.

It's not only this, but he also cancelled the fight for what many speculate was a bogus injury and now when the fight finally does arrive he doesn't even attempt to make weight. What a man.

He has basically cancelled the fight twice because regardless of how the fight goes or how he fights, this weight issue will loom over it, even if he beats Marquez with speed and skill which I think he will do, him coming in at 146 will make people question him. What would have happened if he drained himself to 144? Probably nothing but who knows for sure? Does it matter if they weigh the same come fight time if Mayweather didn't have to sacrifice making weight to make up for him being naturally a little bigger?

There is no doubt that even at 144 Mayweather was likely to win, but it always had that element of "well maybe Marquez will be able to rise to the challenge and make a good fight". But 146 might as well be 147 and Marquez is closer to JWW at 142 and hasn't even fought above 135. You can't help but feel that this is Mayweather rubbing salt into the situation when he really didn't need to at all.

I will be rooting for Marquez and will be delighted if the shock of the decade happens, but Mayweather should be able to box his way through with all the advantages he has now. It doesn't matter how Mayweather wins really, he has harmed himself with this. He talks about deserving to be bigger and wanting respect, but he then goes and pulls a stunt like this. Damn.

I'm trolling sites today and found this on another one that dare not be named.
Max Kellerman is talking a lot more sense than usual here talking about the weight issue.

Max Kellerman has always been one of the most honest guys out there, he isn't afraid to tell it like it is. He isn't afraid to say his favorite fighter is losing. I can see why people find him annoying, but he is real. While Merchant and Lampley are trying to be poetic, Kellerman tries to say it like it is.

I was a bit upset with him regarding his comments post Diaz/Malignaggi but here I think he is spot on.
