I think Cotto (pre-Margarito) and Paul Williams represent the toughest fights Floyd could have

Can't really understand those who sleep on Shane. He was rusty after a long layoff with mayorga, it happens. Yeah Margarito is easy to hit, but I think he more than proved that he is not shot with that performance. Plus, I think the new trainer has invigorated him. Just because a guy hasn't looked spectacular for every single fight doesn't mean he is shot. Shane is a bigger threat to Floyd than Pac-man. fact.

it's the same in every sport, some opponents have your number and others don't. what troubles one guy may or may not trouble the next guy.

Yeah, he looked washed up before Hands of Plaster and may do so again next time out. You can't blame him for wanting to fight Mayweather and making as much as he can.
How did he look washed up? by losing a either way 115-113 decision to cotto? by beating collazo 118-110 UD...by kayoing Mayorga at 154 an fighter that has been as a high as 160?
He lost to Cotto, looked on his way down and then was poor against Mayorga. He definitely looked on his way out after the Mayorga fight.

Shane struggled with Mayorga, do you actually believe he would challenge Floyd? Oh how soon everyone forgets how many people labeled Shane as done a few years ago and washed up, even after the Mayorga fight, but he goes and beats Margarito and everyone thinks suddenly he can beat Floyd? Are Margarito's style so much similar to floyds you can draw that comparison? Floyd would have done the same thing to Margarito with the exception of the knockout.

And what do you think Shane would have done to JMM. It was a mis-match.
Marquez wouldn't have lasted 7 rounds with Shane.
