It was not part of Team Pacquiao's gameplan for Manny to stand in there and take Cotto's power shots. Roach got worried about that for a moment but Manny explained that he tried to measure or test Cotto's power since before the fight he keeps on hearing statements that Cotto is much stronger than him and fans asking/wondering what will happen if Manny tasted Cotto's power (or tasted a welterweight power).

It wasn't a smart move to many but I think Manny has proven something out of that. He was able to breakdown Cotto mentally by standing in there and taking Cotto 's power shots and able to hold his ground then firing his own power shots in retaliation. Manny sort of answered the question if he can take a welterweight power shots. If Manny didn't do that then that question still remains in most people's mind.

I'm honestly surprised that Pacquiao was able to take some of the shots he did and just not be slowed down at all. Both landed punches but it was only Cotto who slowed down. I think it took Cotto off guard, and he definitely didn't just mindlessly tee off on Pacquiao which might have been the way to go at that point. I don't know, what a fight though and what a performance by Pacquiao.

Manny is much better than he was when he fought Marquez. So learning from the Marquez fight will not give anyone an advantage (ask Cottto, Hatton and DLH). With Floyd, you have boxing science at its peak. But his being so orthodox can be his folly. There are manny boxers you can spar with that can emulate (maybe not equal) the fighting style of Floyd. Freddie will have to solve the shoulder roll defense. But who do you get to emulate Manny as a sparring partner? Interesting fight indeed.
That is what is so great about Floyd.. He doesn't need to train against anyone.. He has his style and he is so good at it that it trumps anything that comes up against him...

On Pac though, love how he said he wanted to keep control of the fight and show he's the bigger stronger guy by standing and letting some punches land early.. He did probably take more than he needed too, and as a few people have said above, it gave a lot of us a scare as to how the fight might progress..

But with his mindset of keeping control, he had control from start to finish really.. Incredibly impressive when you are in with a guy like Cotto, and be able to not doubt you can take the best Cotto has to offer...

But I think when it comes to Floyd, that is going to be Roach's game... If there was EVER a fight in history where a fighter probably has the resources and physical ability to beat a fighter BUTTTTT needed an absolute superior game plan and coaching strategy, it would be Pac vs Floyd...

I'll admit, that i had doubts about manny before this fight and i thought cotto was gonna be to big and strong for him.

But boy was i wrong.I have to say that the pac-man is world class and really showed what a great boxer and fighter he really is.I now wouldnt be surprised if he beat PBF.But i still think pretty boy will beat him thou.

With the fact that Manny was able to take the punches of Cotto, I guess Mayweather will have the surprise of his life against Pacman.

    Fearless prediction:

If Mayweather engages Pac: Pac by TKO before the 9th round.
If Mayweather runs against Pac: Pac by UD with knockdowns in between rounds.
