i don't really think it was due to making weight, i think it was due more to him relying too much on his power and taking Mtagwa lightly, if he goes in level headed and not full of himself i think he'll win handily against Luevano, if he comes in with the same mentality as last time, he's gonna lose that 0
I agree. I think if he fought Mtagwa again he'd outbox in a unanimous decision. I am curious to see how Gamboa handles Mtagwa.

luevano was NEVER in serious trouble vs. bernabe concepcion. i might have gotten tagged a couple of times but this happens in boxing. when concepcion threw that late cheat-shot after the bell, luevano was giving him a nice little boxing lesson and was comfortably ahead on points.

Luevano out boxes Lopez an makes him look lik shit.
Luevano got a draw with Santiago, i know Santiago, he's good, but he has nothing on Lopez, if Santiago managed to get a draw, a focused Lopez flattens Luevano, and there will be no controversy like when Concepcion hurt him
Luevano got a draw becuz he was fightin Santiago's fight hich he said he will never do again. If he sticks to his plan of boxin an counterin he should do more den well.
Y do you have to bring up Concepcion? any1 can hurt any1 if they give em a cheap shot cmon...

I question Luevano's chin. But I also question Juanma's power in that weight class.

Speed and ring generalship will be the key. The busier fighter wins.

I don't think there will be a KO. But I'm kinda leaning a little bit for Juanma by decision.

Juanma only looked like shit once cause he fought his guy's fight and took him too damn lightly, like i said, if a lesser guy like Santiago was able to get into Luevano's head, a focused Juanma will be all over him, Lopez is leagues ahead of Santiago in pretty much every department, only thing is it depends on Juanma's mindset

Also Santiago's footwork is better than JuanMa's. Granted JML's output is record setting though.

difference is Lopez still clearly won his fight, and was dominating while he boxed and wasn't just relying on his power, rewatch the fight and you can clearly see that Juanma started to become frustrated with the fact that Mtagwa could take his punches, and he began to only throw power shots, and became sloppy, so like i said, it's not like Luevano doesn't have a chance but IMO the only way he wins is if Lopez didn't learn anything from his mistake against Mtagwa, that being due to his lack of focus and buying into what he was being told, if he doesn't underestimate Luevano he beats him handily, my pick is Lopez by TKO in the 10th

What you say is perfectly reasonable, my side of this comes from the fact that JuanMa is still very young really, which is why I don't think he will be able to adjust as much as Luevano can.

I've backed Lopez in all his fights so far but I've got an inkling that Luevano pulls the upset

....ha ha how fast people flip !! Not directed at anyone in particular, but i can remember when they were damn close to changing the name of puerto rico to puerto juan ma. Dude plow through opponet after opponet including penalosa and he finally gets into a good scrap and the guy is hype, shot and other things i've heard the media say. As a guy progresses he should get into tougher fights, he fighting tougher guys hopefully. Would he still be the next great taking the chavez jr route and fight chumps ?? Give the guy a break is all i'm sayin. One fight, a fight he didn't even loose no less........ah as lederman would say, be as it may, i'm not a juan ma or gamboa fan for all it's worth but i do pick him to beat leuvano's ass. It will be a good fight.
