As long as you never again refer to yourself as a jive brutha, I'm happy for you to join in
We'll have to put it up for a vote, so you won't be able to vote till next week & if you don't vote regularly.
We've currently got 3 open divisions, for you to be a manager in (your vote would be worth 2 in this division), which is your preference?
Light-Heavyweight, Super-Featherweight or Super-Bantamweight?
Middleweight![]()
What's this all about then?
I'm submitting this vote on a proposal from a few weeks ago. It is this.
That if a fighter if the #1 fighter in a division fights a guy who is #1 in the division directly below, then it should be put up for a Championship vote in the same way as a #1 vs #5 in the same division. I'll give two examples.
If Timothy Bradley's next fight was against Juan Manuel Marquez then I feel that on the basis of them both being the best in their divisions it should be eligible to be voted on as a championship fight. Equally, should Sergio Martinez sign to fight Kelly Pavlik as expected next week, then I feel that is an even more worthy Championship fight than any presently available to us in the Top 5 of the MW division.
I basically think that with so many fighters moving divisions, it is an additional way of creating champions when the best fights get made.
Hope that is clear.
I like the theory, but I think there should be some kind of stipulation like a unanimous vote or something like that.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

The vote is passed unanimously for respective divisional #1s to be championship fights
I wanted to start a discussion on an idea. I think if a fighter beats another RANKED fighter that is lower ranked, then that should trigger a vote for the winner to move up one spot.
For example, Edwin Valero ranked #6 beat Antonio DeMarco ranked #9, using our current system DeMarco was voted down one spot. Using the proposed additional system we would also vote to see if Valero moves up a spot in this case we would compare the merit of Valero at #5 vs. Katsidis at #5.
I think it's important to recognize fighters fighting other ranked fighters.
Also, since it just a trigger to vote to move up a rank or remain at the current rank it will be taken on a case by case basis. One problem I can see immediately is that it undermines the fight for the spot system a bit.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.
I definitely agree with this, with the proviso being only that it be for a fighter beating another ranked fighter as Valero has just done. Although I can still see an argument for Katsidis being ahead of Valero, even if I don't agree with it. I can't see one for Reyes, who's done nothing since that fight with Diaz.
I would be in favour of it being for possibly going up 2 spots, although I can see that being a problem. But I think a problem is that someone like Kendall Holt shouldn't be our #2 at 140, when he's done little in the last year, however a year is a long time in boxing & should he beat Kaizer Mabuza (22-6-3) he'll hold his spot and to me that wouldn't be fair to, for example, the Urango-Alexander winner who will have more noteworthy results in recent times.
This is a good idea holmes
It should only b 1 spot
& by beatng a rankd fightr
Fight for your spot still remains intact
But better performances against rankd guys should b rewarded![]()
Absolutely a great call.Dont know how we let it slip by all this time frankly.Good insight Greg.Always easy to give the conquered the scrutiny but even more so why should the victor of a ranked vs ranked remain idle....but is it a certainty that it will only one spot advanced?Regardless of fashion and foe defeated?
In an odd way it emphasis's (not to go all rainbows and puppy dogs on ya) a positive voting procedure as opposed to all of the demotions.Keeps the top tier moving and rewards.
Maybe we should require a certain amount of votes to approve it.As well...I think the manager of division should be allowed a bigger vote in matter.
Maybe we should require that the defeated have been ranked a certain length of time for it to be allowed? As to not 'encourage' voting pool members in last minute just prior to a fight.Cynical I know![]()
