Default MAyweather Mosley does 1.4 mill homes (Likely to increase)

    http://boxing.fanhouse.com/2010/05/1...-mosley/#cntnt

According to Leonard Ellerbe, The Mayweather/Mosley fight did 1.4 million buys. The total will probably go up after everything is tallied, which would make this the second highest non heavyweight ppv of all time. The only one that did better was Mayweather's fight against DLH. Boxing is still alive and well when a ppv can put up those numbers despite one contestant being a 4/1 underdog.

Mayweather now involved in the biggest and second biggest non heavyweight bouts.

and is 4th all time in PPV sales.

Don't know that I'd trust Ellerbe as he's hardly an unbiased party, but the fight did well which makes me happy, as it did to see similar numbers from Pac/Clottey.
For every story told that divides us, I believe there are a thousand untold that unite us.

Not sure he said homes? Marketing people like to play word games.

It wasn't an official HBO release, but rather Ellerbe making a press release. The last time Keven Y. did a PPV numbers release it was pretty close to the actual number. 1.4 is substantially higher.

Pac Clottey did like 700,000 which is good considering Clottey's lack of name.

Rick Reeno reported this the other day as unofficially coming from an HBO source. I think if Ellerbe was going to embellish figures he would have done it earlier. The 1.2m that Iole was reporting was off incomplete figures, so it isn't ridiculous to think it went up.

Mayweather proves to be a pay-per-view draw

    updated 33 minutes ago

LAS VEGAS - Floyd Mayweather Jr. proved to be a box office draw in his fight with Shane Mosley, with 1.4 million buys for television revenue of $78.3 million.

HBO released figures Tuesday that showed the fight made the top 10 of pay-per-view bouts ever. The most pay-per-view buys for a fight was 2.4 million for Mayweather's 2007 bout with Oscar De La Hoya.

Mayweather's manager, Leonard Ellerbe, said the buys helped Mayweather pocket $40 million for the fight. He had been guaranteed $22.5 million plus a percentage of the sales.
