Ray's another guy who only turned pro late. He was a well established amateur and Olympic gold medalist at that. Many amateur fighters start pro late, mid 20s. Guys like Sergio Martinez, who didn't even start boxing until his 20s are the guys who are impressive. Though that late and successful as a pro is very rare. Normally success as a pro after starting late would be like Kermit Cintron who started boxing just before he was 20.

Had over 300 amateur fights. From age 31 to 36 he defended his titles 21 times.
