I'm torn, I'm a massive Khan fan, really rate his skills. But I just simply love Maidanas style and how he fights.
My head says Khan, my gut says Maidana.
If the fight happens, I'll favour Khan winning as I don't think they would have took the fight if they thought he could lose.
It has potential to be fight of the year though, I'm really looking forward to it happening.
Boxrec already has it down as booked!
everyone goes on about the light welter division and no one has mentioned kotelnik
he has already beaten maidana and should have beaten alexander
hes up there still isnt he?
To answer the thread tho, maidana has more than a punchers chance against kahn and kahn isnt good under pressure and maidana will show him some of that
the corley fight could have just been an off night? Or corley could have had the fight of his life? Or the styles could have mixed in corleys favour?
where did you watch it? Why arent these fights on british tv?
I don't think maidana is anywhere as bad as some say he is, just like i don't belive khan is close to as good as some think he is. Madiana vs khan would be a decent fight and answer questions for them both. Can khan take a punch ? Can maidana treat anyone higher than a prospect the way he handled ortiz and that cayo kid. I don't think anyone wonders if khan can box better than maidana of course he can, but madana will catch him at least a few times and last time he was caught he was slumped up in that corner with that prescott guy thinking he was hot shit all of the sudden. I'm just sayin khan has been already beaten by a lot worse than maidana, cause prescott is garbage so just prove to us it was a fluke. C'mon paulie doesn't count he really doesn't even hit back. If i had to bet i'd probably put my money on khan but i sure as heck wouldn't be surprised if i never saw that money again.

exactly, Khan obviously would be the favorite due to his size and overall better technical skill, but he would be taking a risk against a massive puncher (probably the hardest hitting fighter at that weight), Khan does tend to mix it up and get tagged, hell Malignaggi even managed to mark Khan up a bit and well that's the equivalence of having rolls of Charmin toilet paper thrown at you by a two year old, I want to see how Khan reacts after getting hit clean upstairs by a guy with awesome power, and believe me he'd get more credit for that fight than anything else he's done in his career
AMIR KHAN: "I'M GOING TO COME IN AND BE THE BIG PUNCHER"
"When I beat Maidana, I want to let my fists do the talking, not my words...I'm going do something different in this fight, something nobody's ever seen me do. I'm changing my style....I'm going to come in and be the big puncher. This fight, is going to be explosive," stated WBA jr. welterweight champion Amir Khan as he spoke to the media about his upcoming clash with interim WBA jr. welterweight champion Marcos Maidana. Check out what else both fighters had to say during a conference call held earlier today.
can't remember if i've replied to this thread yet - dont think i have
I agree entirely Khan is a class above Maidana in boxing skills and ring craftmamship
as long as khan stays focussed Maidana has a punchers chance and thats all.
wouldnt mind seeing what happening if Maidana lands though (apart from the fact I want Maidana to spark him of course !)- but can he now take a punch ?!?
Don't bully fat kids - they've got enough on their plate
Everyone has such a close mindedness about peoples chins in boxing and looking at Maidana they are willing to look past all is flaws, how often he gets hit, or even how often he;'s been dropped or the fact he was outboxed by Kotelnik because they are blinded by the thought that none of it matters because Khan has no chin in their opinion. However Maidana has a lot less working for him, he wings his shots he is always caught in between them and he only fights one way, he is tailor made for Khan to look spectacular against and he will be beaten badly, Maidana may have power and a blood and guts style but 9 times out of 10 the fans pick the blood and guts style over the boxer because they enjoy watching it more but that blood and guts style will 9 times out of 10 be picked apart by it. And people are counting on Khan's chin failing him. But I think you have a better chance of seeing Maidana's chin and power fail him.

Khan: "After Beating 140, I Want Mayweather, Pacquiao"
WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is planning to end 2011 in a big way.
After his December 11 defense against Marcos Maidana, he wants the winner of January's 140-pound unification between Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander. Once that is finished, he wants to to get a mega-fight at 147-pounds against Floyd Mayweather Jr. or Manny Pacquiao. The fight with Pacquiao would be interesting. The two fighters are close friends, have trained and sparred often, and they share the same trainer in Freddie Roach. Khan is currently training in the Philippines with Roach and Pacquiao. Roach has said in a few interviews that he would never allow his two boxers to fight each other.
“I’m only 23, I’m a world champion and I’ve got many years left in my career. I can take my time and beat these guys like Mayweather and Pacquiao. I could go in the ring with them now – but I want to fight them when I am at my best", Khan told the Manchester Evening News. You need to have ambitions to be the pound-for-pound best, otherwise there is no point being in this sport. I want to be rated as No 1. I need to beat Marcos Maidana first and then the winner of Bradley and Alexander. After that I will move onto Mayweather and Pacquiao.”
First up is Maidana, who Khan expects to be a tougher opponent than either Bradley or Alexander.“He’s a big puncher,” Khan said. “He’s going to be a big challenge – his record says it all. After him, I want Bradley or Alexander – but I think Maidana will be tougher than either of them.”
