I got your back PSL, except for that coward part. I also am leaning towards Dzinziruk, just because I think he has one of the best jabs in boxing today. That is the perfect tool against a guy that uses weird angles like Martinez. He's not gonna be able to juke his way inside Dzinziruks highly accurate jab, and Dzin is gonna be waiting on him, not pressing at all. Only shot martinez has is if he can just walk through it, but I gotta say that jab has some nice pop to it. Also Dzin's chin is a unknown commodity to me at this point havent seen it tested.

only seen dzindrizuk on a few occasions, remember i saw his fight with daniel santos

your standard orthadox eastern european type of fighter. Very good defence and hard to counter.

i see martinez just edging a 12round decision through work rate alone

This is a good call. I see Martinez making a statement by knocking him out cold, but winning a UD in a somewhat boring tactical fight could also happen.

PSL - When you made your post did you realize that Alfredo Angulo ducked Sergio Martinez? Alfredo Angulo Shuns $750,000 Offer to Fight Sergio Martinez

And that Cotto opted to fight Mayarga at 154 rather than Martinez at 154?

Any why no response to my post?

Dzinziruk will not get knocked out but survive to see the judges.

Martinez by a very disputed decision. Dzinziruk's jab is going to disrupt Martinez' rhythm and keep him off balance all night. He won't TKO Martinez, which is why he won't win, but this will be a much closer fight than most people think.

I find that very possible, but here's the thing - that only proves how tough the competition Martinez has been in with as of late. Dzinziruk beats almost any other fighter in and around that weight class.

I don't disagree with that at all. Martinez has had a very strong resume over the last couple of years.

Angulo? Lol! Same Angulo who got schooled by Cintron? C'mon.

Martinez' power is being overrate right now. Everybody's riding his cock all of a sudden with the Williams KO. Sure, it was a great punch. But Williams has B-level defence. Martinez finally landed it. He knew he could throw Hayemakers he wouldn't normally throw and not pay for it.

Marinez and Dzinziruk have about the same punching power imo.

thats what i think as well

wont be one of your classic encounters, a very entertaining boxing contest that will get going occasionally but ultimately will end with both fighters being hoisted in the air claiming to of won a decision

I don't disagree with Dzinziruk being a tough opponent - I disagree with your criticisms of Martinez. However, Dzinziruk being tough is more the reason to give Martinez credit for taking the fight. I'll go farther than you - Dzinziruk is the best fighter at 154. There I said it. He's better than Cotto, Williams, Angulo, and Cintron. So, again, credit to Martinez for taking this fight. Plus, it has the potential to look bad on tv because Dzinziruk slows things down with that potent jab. So, not only is there potential for Martinez to lose because Dzinziruk is that good, but even if he wins, he may look bad doing it. So, once more, credit again to Martinez.

Don't forget, Williams was a top ten p4p fighter when he fought Martinez. It's easy to say he had bad defense but he annhilated Winky Wright, beat Verno Phillips, and beat Antonio Margarito when Antonio Margarito was looking very, very tough.

Oh and speaking of being overrated. How about Dimitry Pirog? His KO of Danny Jacobs was phenomenal, but what else has he ever done? What did he do with his new found fame? He's languishing in obscurity in Russia fighting nobody's.

Lemiuex is taking on Rubio - that is what you do as a prospect working your way up.

I haven't seen many Dzinziruk fights...only one comes to my mind where did get hit by some big punches and that was against Joel Julio, who is a decent puncher...thats the same guy who lost to Kirkland and Angulo by ko...Dzinziruk handled those hits well enough,if its the same with Martinez next saturday I think Dzinziruk will/should win by points, but it will be close...

Dzinzurik has a jab that can knock people down and out. He put Santos on his ass with a jab, and Santos has a decent chin. Especially if they are off balance like Sergio often is when he comes lunging in. That jab has to keep him honest or Martinez will take advantage in close.
