I like Paulie. Sure, he can't punch but he is a tough mofo and considering that you should be able to walk through him, very few are ever able to do so. He pumps that jab and if he gets tagged rarely gets seriously rocked. He's a nice guy too. He talks a lot of smack, but is likeable with it. I don't really know what he is doing at WW, but am glad he got the win today.

Speaking of Paulie and restuarants. I think I'm going to take my gf to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner tonight. Just thinking of Italian food makes me hungry.

I really like him to be honest. He tells it like it is and fights with alot of heart. He's the type of guy ud like to sink a few beers with.

Must admit I really like paulie, yes he talks alot of smack sometimes but he speaks his mind which alot of other fighters dont dare to do in interviews in case they upset people, plus I think he uses his mouth to sell his fights to make up for his lack of punch power.
He may not have knock out power but I really enjoy his fights, he has quick hands and throws some great combinations. He has a big heart too which he showed against Cotto and against Kahn to a certain degree.

I think Paulie needs to retire before he gets hurt. He was thrown to the wolves too many times

Hatton and Cotto weren't necessarily wolves, they were HUGE PAYDAYS.

Especially for a fighter with no punching power and somewhat of a boring style. Malinaggi should thank Lou Dibella, his ex-promoter, for getn him those fights.

That's true. But unfortunately I remember a few months ago when he left for GBP he shitted on Dibella. Dibella did a great job with a feather fisted puncher that doesn't have a crowd pleasing style. The guy is already a multi-millionaire he should thank his lucky stars and just retire before he really gets hurt.

I don't think he's made that much $$$. Has he ever been the house fighter on PPV ?

He made about 400k for the Khan fight, and his biggest purse, by far, was 1.2 mil for the Hatton fight. The Cotto fight was his first big main event and it was back in 2006. He was just another fall guy for Cotto so I don't think he made big bucks on that fight. He lost all 3 decisively, so I doubt that he gets any more big fights unless it's a suicide match against Manny that was being talked about not that long ago.

Other than those 3 fights, I don't believe that he had any big purses, and remember that these figures are the gross- not the net. De Bella took 25% off the top, plus trainers, cut men, taxes, etc., and he probably pocketed way less than a million over 5 years. I all of those big fights he was much smaller than the guys he fought, who were well known for their heavy punching power, but he showed a lot of heart and took tons of punishment that he will surely feel for the rest of his life.

I say he more than earned what little he made. He looked old and slow against Khan so he should move on and try to use his name to make some decent money without the heavy physical punishment.

He'd make a great commentator with some fine tuning when it comes to working with a 'team'. As a fighter he's just about shot his bolt and is now marketed on charisma and scalp. He's taking to much punishment. He was to sly and mobile to now be affixed with "yeh but he has tons of heart and a good chin"...just means he's proven that point more and more.

How does a guy hurt his hands when he doesn't really even hit anything very hard. Paulie is what he is. I'm more curious as to what and who he's gonna blame when this current attempt at another title fails. His hands, his trainers, the waterboy, the car wash workers....it'll be someone. Not sure how anyone hates or loves any of these fighters personally when they don't know them but ah well.

Of course, he was the first one to clap
Yes that was some great acting there by those two

The finale of "Lights Out" sucked as far as I'm concerned.

They ripped off so many things from boxing all season, and it really came to a head in the finale. Death Row Reynolds was wearing black WAR hats, EXACTLY like Hagler wore to fight Hearns.

Then when Reynolds finally gets knocked out he crawls around on the canvas lookin for his mouthpiece EXACTLY like Tyson did against Douglas.

It was an insult to boxing fans. Couldn't the writers think up anything of their own instead of ripping off the last 30 years of boxing ?

I think it is a cool collage of fiction and boxing history.

You should be glad they are paying attention to boxing at all right now, considering its relative stagnation in the past few years.

I haven't been following this one, but I have a couple thought s on Malignaggi...
He is the kind of fighter I most dislike (well...right behind ex-Olympians); silly haircuts, skips around the ring, acts like an ass and everybody goes on about his "charisma" and "boxing ability." Personally I find that smack-talking and odd costumes and long ring walks detract from the dignity of my favorite thing in the world- professional prize-fighting, though I enjoy all those things in pro wrestling. The belief that a "great boxer" skips around the ring flicking and slapping punches while taunting an opponent is a part of the "Ali-itis" that has infected boxing for far too long. As a result we tend to laud guys that can't do much in the ring as "great".
I felt this way about Pazienza throughout his career, though ultimately I had to respect his toughness and willingness to do what he called fighting. Same with Joey Gamache, who won my respect the night I saw him fight Chavez. Camacho earned my respect when Chavez beat him up, too. I have no interest in watching Malignaggi at all, so I'll probably never come to think anything but ill of him and his way of boxing.
It is very probable that he does have hand troubles. Gene Tunney did, and it made him become more of a boxer. Ali did, too, though I doubt it made a difference in his style. You tend to hurt your hands, especially the outside knuckles, when you flick and slap punches with your hands open and your wrists loose.

    I liked the show.

Its just not very original at all, or all that intelligent. And the season finale sucked.

And don't tell me to beware, cus I'll tell you where to be.

No I agree it isn't original or intelligent, but it could quite possibly bring new fans into the sport which is a good thing. Just any press for boxing is good it appears to me. Unless it is some HW being put in prison for killing people, etc.
