Well marblehead I mean no disrespect but think of it this way I'm not saying Wolak and Rodriguez have the same technical ability of any of the other fighters I mentioned. Ebb and flow of fights is due to the close skill levels of the guys in the ring which is why I said "1 fighter makes a mistake the other capitalizes" when Bowe allowed Holyfield to get inside Evander made him pay, when Riddick created space he made Evander pay it was only because both fighters were on the same level that they were able to survive those ebbs and flows.

No disrespect at all, we're just talking here

But you don't see a distinction between an ebb and flow where guy one can change the tide merely by throwing a jab whereas in a second fight a guy needs to throw a jab, cross and hook, then step and throw another cross?

Isn't the second example being conducted at a far higher level of skill? Doesn't the second example show a far higher level of adaptability? Isn't countering a long combination like that to reassert control dramatically more difficult and impressive than merely being able to counter a jab to do so?

hasn't fought anybody yet is my guess.

I'll give the kid one thing. He's showing some real gumption. He was a MESS at the end of round 1.

Elegele can't even take a punch off a guy with 3ko's. I don't think he has a very bright future.

    WOW! Someone's getting stitches!!!! Sick!

If he's lucky with the judges he won the fight.

WTF is it with these Florida trainers trying to get everyone to be RJJ?!?! All their stances are too fucking wide, Elegele needs to fight tall, he's 6 feet tall and 147, freaking fight like it!!!

Right on! I saw your comment about the jabbing too. I know it was a southpaw vs orthodox, but still.

I wonder if fighters even know the reason why you keep a lead hand low anymore or are they just doing it because A) "It looks cool" or B) they are just lazy? There's little if any reason to keep a lead hand low vs someone who has the opposite stance as you. I mean if you roll with a jab you're going to catch a cross, its a fact. Fighters these days are dumb but trainers are too and that's sad.

I get the sense there isn't a lot of "why" asked by anybody when it comes to boxing craft

But it is STILL the best thing around!

It's important to note that Khan was winning the fight against Prescott before getting KTFO.

Zab is going to need to look a whole hell of a lot better against Khan, then he did against Lucas Matthysse, if he expects to win tomorrow night.

Yup. I still wonder if Kahn is a little mentally fragile or if that is all in MY head. He seemd panicky against Maidana at times.
