I prefer Bowie's Wild is the wind over Nina Simone's.

I also prefer Iggy Pop's version of China Girl over that of Bowie's. Bowie's was just too synthy and lacked Iggy's drive.

Elvis' version of 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' also wipes the floor with Simon & Garfunkle's original whiny sounding version.

Say what you will about the guy but Elvis could belt out some songs!

For sure his 70's voice was really great. It had matured and his range had really developed. Good singer.

Great singer! Great performer! I rank Elvis, Sinatra (the entire Rat Pack), and James Brown as probably the greatest performers ever...yes ahead of Michael Jackson and The Beatles and no I'm not slighting them by putting those guys ahead

George Jones is a singer that is very underrated. Harry Connick Jr said Jones is the best singer ever. He said you could line up all the greats close your eyes and listen and George Jones would beat them all.

    Sam Cooke was amazing too!

Fever is probably the most covered song by some of the greats Peggy lee, Armstrong etc etc.

Heres the original and then what I think is the best blues version if not the outright best version ever by James Cotton.

Ok there you go. Fever with showmanship.

Elvis owned all the songs he did. 'Shakin all over' though; for me was re sculptured and re done better by the band who wrote it originally.
