Mayweather would be nuts to fight Kirkland IMO, unless he made him fight at 147. Kirkland may not have a chin, but he can box a little bit and he hits hard. It's the definition of a high-risk, low-reward fight.

I could see it being Berto if he beats Ortiz, which he will, or Khan. Both would be okay fights. 147, Pacquiao and Mayweather aside, is shit right now.

I would think Bradley would be a likely candidate if he wasn't an Arum fighter now, but that would be an awful fight.

I would have loved to see either of those fights about 5 years ago, but not now.

If Ishida can put Kirkland down thrice, Mayweather can too. That is actually a great fight for Mayweather. Kirkland is coming off a huge victory, it would be at 154, so people would think it was a risk and Mayweather knows Kirkland can be outboxed. At the same time, Mayweather can fight anyone at 80-20 and people will buy the fight regardless of whether it is on paper a competitive fight. He could fight Guerrero or Maidana and people would buy it so I'm not sure why he would fight Kirkland when those kinds of opponents are available.

Is a victory over Angulo huge though? I think most people, myself included, have long considered Angulo to be a pretty mediocre fighter. It was a great win for Kirkland because it, kinda, showed that he could take a punch (or at least that he could better than in the Ishida fight), but beating Angulo doesn't mean that much in the grand scheme of things.

From what I know, and I could be wrong, Kirkland isn't an overly popular or esteemed fighter right now, so I don't know how well it would sell. I'd watch it though, I think it's a compelling fight, I just don't know if it makes sense from Mayweather's perspective. If I'm him, I'd fight someone like Bradley or Berto/Ortiz. They're more popular and are easier fights.

The only reason to fight Kirkland at 154 is if he's going after Martinez next, and even then I think there are safer and equally marketable fights at that weight.

Can very likely see it being Ortiz or Berto, i would be pissed of Ortiz got another shot at Floyd he doesn't deserve it.

I would love a khan Mayweather showdown, that would be one to watch for sure!!

Fighting the Cotto - Margarito winner will be nice. But I read in the other thread that fight is likely to be in jeopardy. If that fight does not go through, then I wish Floyd goes directly and fight Cotto.

Mayweather can, also, call out Pacquiao since he's ripe for the picking now. This is to shut up those who might think that he's still ducking this version of the Pacman.

Other than those (I don't think Martinez has ever been an option for him), then there is no point but to milk the spectators.

Cotto/Margarito II isn't in jeopardy of not happening, it simply is in jeopardy of happening in MSG, they might move it to Cowboy Stadium, it's stupid that the NYSAC waited so long to ask Margarito for the eye exams, but yea, Mayweather is calling for Pacquiao and both Manny and Bob are turning their heads and acting like it's not happening, instead looking for a 4th fight with Marquez, I say Mayweather should go for any of the top guys at 154 or even Bradley

While its not likely to happen, if Floyd came into the 154lb division with a clinic/tune up on Kirkland and then went after Martinez and won, he would make a huge statement and silence alot of people.
