Wow, just finished watching this fight. Damn. After the DeMarco fight and how mashed Linares eyes were, he needed more time off for healing IMO and also needed a couple of gimme fights. Hes still a quality fighter and will be back for sure.

Main thing for Linares is he needs to learn how to defend himself properly. Shit. hitting him seems so easy, like he just like to get hit and leaves his face right out there. Thompson landed almost at will I thought. He needs to work with someone more defensive minded IMO.

Thats one thing that stuck out, he couldn't be missed with rights and looked almost in a way gun shy or very conscious of that right eye. He had these exaggerated pull backs and turning of the head. I don't know how legit a puncher Yeyo is but when he landed those couple of ok'ish barrages Linares just totally unraveled. His legs were spotty.

Its what stuck going into rematch with Demarco. I kept thinking 'what' can he do better than he already had. He had the combos, hand speed, mobility but right hands have built in GPS on him and Demarco is a slicing type with pop. I really am not sure he'll rebound here. Hope so but man talk about psychological erosion let alone eye issues.

That was a bullshit stoppage. Linares just walked away in disgust. Like he was expecting to get screwed. Linares looked good in the first. But it looks now like his skin is to thin. He bleeds pretty damn easily now a days

yup, has JCC syndrome, but he also should take some of the blame, his defense looks horrid, and it's a shame because he's one of the more complete fighters out there apart from his defense

At least when Linares got beaten up badly by Antonio DeMarco, he lost to a pretty good fighter. Although Sergio Thompson has a great KO ratio, he's far from being world class.

I thought the stoppage was a little quick, and really didn't understand it. (not that Linares was going to win the fight anyway)

If you just wanna see the KD and the stoppage, scroll forward in this video to about the 6:00 minute mark:

I am surprised Linares took this fight, his cuts needed time to heal. This reminds me of Eubanks fighting too soon against Carl Thompson for their rematch as his eye had not had enough time to recover from the swelling. It led to the only time he was ever stopped.

It's been 5 1/2 months since the DeMarco fight, the cuts/swelling should have been totally healed by the time he stepped in the ring against Thompson. From what I could tell, mentally and physically he looked nothing like the Linares we saw before the DeMarco fight. Sergio Thompson was suppose to be a relatively easy comeback fight, only someone forgot to tell Sergio.

At this point you've gotta wonder if Linares will ever be able to turn his career around and/or compete at the championship level again, right now it doesn't look like it.

Damn over 5 months already! Remember Linares coming up and becoming a champion, think against Medina, he looked awesome with a very bright future. Look how sad things have turned out.

It's it's a bit of a shock actually, before the DeMarco fight everyone thought Linares was the next big thing.

I think Lundy or Molina are DeMarco's best options, would love to see him fight Vasquez.
