No that's bullshit. It's not the English that hate on Calzaghe at all.

Most Englishmen don't care if you're Welsh, Scottish or English. It's the Scots and Welshmen with the chips on their shoulder who act like England's little angry brother and hate it... England just smiles and ruffles their hair!

I've been in pubs, when scotland beat france... Getting cheered on by Englishmen, fuck they wouldn't have been much happier if it was England playing! Would you see the same thing in Scotland or Wales? Would you fuck! You'd more likely see the fucking French cheered.

    It's like short man syndrome.

Point I'm making is - we don't care if Calzaghe is Welsh... Not a fuck.

Alot of the hate stems from not fighting in america from the early part of his career and not fighting a prime roy jones or other top tier american fighter.
I respect calzaghe stamina and workrate as he never seems to tire.
He is undeafeated and all his fights could not have been bums.
Frank warren has alot to do in protecting his fighter and it worked to joes advantage.
No one knows who would have won between joe and carl froch but perhaps joe would have nudged it.
But i must say carl fights anyone in any country at any time and he has ducked no one.

Froch gives his all,but he doe's no have the skill's to beat Calzaghe ,you don't and stand in front of Froch
you box him. Joe would have beat him very much, the same way he beat Kessler, Froch has a good engine but Calzaghe has a better one.
We seem to forget Joe, hand very bad hand trouble throughout his career, so considering being a undefeated World champion, what a feat as they say second to none.!

two things i liked about joe high workrate and he was fast.

idk why people hate him with a passion.
I'm an American who used to hate on Calzaghe, to be honest I thought he was an overrated fraud, but I grew to like the guy, and respect his ability.
Not many championship level pugs go undefeated, 46-0 is a damn fine career record, in any book. Fuck the haters.

I didn't like the way Calzaghe fought, but how can you deny the guy the respect he deserves? 46 wins and no losses, and he was smart enough to get out and stay out.

I have seen a lot of the fights joe has fought and I'll say this maybe if he fought Roy and b hop in there prime he would get more respect he kinda did take on these guys on the down side of there career. On top of that most people in the us dont even know who he is when I tell people there's and undefeated boxer that fought during the Roy jones b hop era that retired undefeated the first thing they say is no way, where did he come from why haven't I heard of him. Next thing I heard he must have been fighting bums. Lol

Give me a break...hopkins turned down an offer in the early 00's to fight joe, fact!

There is only 2 years age difference between joe and roy too, calzaghe was 37 when they fought and had suffered from severe hands problems for years! The fact that he humiliated, carried and schooled jones at that point in there respective careers is very telling, i mean just when would jones have beaten a slick southpaw with a great chin and sick workrate like calzaghe? when he was being humiliated by glenn johnson? when he was taking the roids? Calzaghe vs jones (both at there best) would be very interesting.

Unfortunately we saw it at the end of there careers. Funny how no one gives lenny lewis shit for fighting a shot tyson who's best years were a decade (at least) before!

Difference here was it was at jones weight not calzaghes! Ppl forget that jones went onto give one of his best later career performances post calzaghe against a shot lacy (jermaine taylor couldn't keep lacy off him!!) and his brutal stoppage of sheika was impressive too considering sheika pushed top 10 rated diaconu all the way! He also stole 5 rounds off of lineal champ hopkins too. Tyson was humiliated by williams and mcbride. Let's also note it was in jones country too, not calzaghes!

Joe was probably on the 'downside' as far back as the Evans fight.
