That's very debateable considering holyfield struggled with the 2 SHW'S he actually fought i.e bowe and lenny.
You underestimate the difficulty of the task that PRIME klitschko pose.
You also forget he got beat by moorer and was extremely lucky vs bert cooper! So don't suggest he would wipe the floor with two 240lb ring tacticians like klitschko! Oh ya and its probable he was a major roid abuser too..
I dont care what anyone says,a prime Holyfield would give either
brother a run for there money, he was such a warrior, and didnt
care about reputations.
When Big George won the HW title at 45 it was one of the worst things that could have ever happened to boxing IMO, because it set a TERRIBLE example for aging fighters. You always hear aging fighters citing Big George and Bernard Hopkins, always thinking "hey I might have one more big hurrah, look what George did" despite the fact that George and Hopkins are the RARE exception, not the rule.
Boxing is a brutal game, and I think guys should be looking to get out well before 40. Sure, people will say with today's advances in the areas of medicine and nutrition (aka PEDs), 40 is the new 30. Yeah, maybe so. But all the advanced nutrition and "supplements" in the world can't protect your brain from the effects of 20-25 years of getting punched in the head.
The fact that boxing allows guys like Toney and Holyfield to fight, guys who are pushing 50 and have PROVEN to have brain damage, is a constant reminder of how cannibalistic this sport can be. I don't see anything impressive or honorable in letting Holyfield go out and get killed by a Klitschko.
A prime Holyfield would have his hands full against either Klitschko, much less this 50 year old shell.
He was past his best when he fought Lennox who was twice the fighter either Klit has or will ever be anyway and Bowe 1 was a week after he walked in a room to find his brother shot dead so I don't think his mind was quite with it for some reason. Bowe 2 for me was Evander at his best as a HW and had it not been for the fan man I felt he was very close to stopping Bowe.
As for Moorer, yes he got beat but do you really think that he was anywhere near himself? Did you see the state of him in the corner? The rematch told quite a different story, no?
As for Cooper yes he was badly hurt but Evander has one of if not the best recovery powers I've ever seen in boxing. To say he would have been finished is underestimating Evander seriously. Also it was NOT a standing 8, the ropes were all that kept him up which is officially a knockdown, and then moments later he was fighting back like a true warrior something that you need to be truly great and something neither Klit has ever shown. Every time Wlad has been really hurt he has gone and Vitali just retired against Byrd, although he showed some balls after that uppercut from Lewis and credit must be given for that.
Another great example of Evanders recovery powers is right here.
Remember what I said earlier too, This was a week after finding his brother shot dead. Most other fighters would have gone under those circumstances but then to come back in the way he did was astonishing.
The way I figure it is Holyfield wants to leave a little something for his kids when he heads out to the great unknown and plans to buy a great big life insurance policy as soon as a Klitschko fight is signed. Otherwise all he can leave his kids are his debts right now. All kidding aside though this fight WOULD be a human sacrifice because I think Evander would get killed in the ring against one of those giants.

Are u saying he was at his best when he went 1-2 with bowe, 1-1 with moorer and could quote easily have a a stoppage loss to bert cooper then? I think the steroids compensated for any small decline from the mid to late 90's.He was past his best when he fought Lennox
Debateable. I believe vitali is a greater H2H fighter than lennox (not greater in an ATG sense but H2H he is more dangerous, lenny found that out when he called him up on 11 days notice....) And wlad (although it took him longer to perfect his craft is every bit as good as lennox is, especially considering he never really ever gets out of 1st gear!) Wladimir klitschko is not inferior to lennox. There common opponents alone prove that. Phil jackson, botha, mercer and rahman.who was twice the fighter either Klit has or will ever be anyway
'Klitschko is as good as any past champion, better than me'
-George foreman
'I've boxed against Lewis and Foreman, I put up my best fight of my career tonight. But Vitali is too quick, he hits hard, harder than all the others, he's a great boxer.'
-Shannon briggs
Bowe is overrated anyway. The klitschko's are better. And the fact remains he struggles with elite SHW'S. Yes he will give anyone a fight but...and Bowe 1 was a week after he walked in a room to find his brother shot dead so I don't think his mind was quite with it for some reason. Bowe 2 for me was Evander at his best as a HW and had it not been for the fan man I felt he was very close to stopping Bowe.
Mate holy always made excuses following losses its common knowledge, he did after he fought bowe and toney! Against moorer first time round it would later surface that the chairman of the medical advisory board for the Nevada State Athletic Commission believed his condition to be consistent with HGH use. Has any champion had as many excuses in defeat as Evander Holyfield? Heart problem's and hepatitus are the usual excuses I think! However, watching a television show hosted by preacher Benny Hinn, Holyfield says he felt his heart heal LOL.As for Moorer, yes he got beat but do you really think that he was anywhere near himself? Did you see the state of him in the corner? The rematch told quite a different story, no?
Bad shoulder/heart condition (Moorer)
Hepatitis A (Bowe 3)
Stomach and leg cramps (Lewis 1)
Perforated eardrum (Ruiz)
Shoulder injury (Toney)
Shoulder injury (Donald)
An enormous cut [Sherman Williams]
Read an interview with Tommy Loughran sometime. He never lost a fight in his life, according to him.
The rematch was going the way of the first but the heavier moorer's (He was 10lbs heavier than the 1st fight) china chin got found out again...proves nothing really. PPL forget moorer was fighting @ 175lbs a couple of years prior to fighting holyfield.
Had mills lane not intervened bert would have pulled off the upset. Sorry but it was obvious. To say he would have been finished is underestimating Evander seriously. Also it was NOT a standing 8, the ropes were all that kept him up which is officially a knockdown, and then moments later he was fighting back like a true warrior something that you need to be truly great and something neither Klit has ever shown.
61 FIGHTS 3 LOSSES.Every time Wlad has been really hurt he has gone
Purrity was just inexperience, a rookie mistake, sanders is the hardest left handed HW ever, no shame in that considering i.e 180lb cooper flattened ali, and brewster was fatigue and basically used as a sparring partner for the rematch! So how has he GONE? If you are de-legitimizing him based on chins then the likes of patterson, dempsey and louis would have no chance because they were put down much more than wlad and knocked spark out too!!
P.S The peter fight KD's were all rabbit punches or the accumulative effects of them, and besides peter was a 250lb bull of a man who put toney down too!! The rematch proved wladimir a boxer who has truly perfected his art, when was the last time he was GONE? Years ago....
The call was he'd be literally be laying in the seats if the ropes that he slid down face first were not there. That call was legit as a kd and has been sighted in numerous similar situations since as cause for a legitimate knockdown. I don't think that 8 seconds took the nail outta Holyfields coffin by any means and it wasn't the first or last time he'd be hurt only to come back and return the favor in kind..rounds end. Cooper wasn't some devastating finisher. Ask a sagging and 'out' Moorer in the 1st round a fight later.
Those uppercuts on Bert Cooper were brutal.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
I think that evander should fight Roy Jones (jr)...in a cage...loser leave town (an archaic pro wrestling reference)...no rules death match.
Well i like the k brothers and all but a 37 year old Holyfeild did better in the rematch with Lewis then Vitali. Evander in prime is all wrong for the k brothers styles i feel and the fights would be ugly looking.
Funny how klitschko never got his rematch with lewis unlike evander! Wonder why! WBC put him on the spot and he retired pronto. Lewis did agree face to face with vitali a rematch, all that is just fact u can swing around it all u want.
Ya holy ultimately did better but lewis arguably won 1 round vs vitali while it lasted. Only when vitali was cut up was it hampering his performance. And holy had more than 11 days notice. An argument could easily be made that it should have gone to the cards.
When Lennox and Vitali fought,.. they were two monsters who could wipe every other fighter on the planet barring a fluke KO or injury,...the closest genetical parralells for either of those two were indeed each other...saying someone did better against fighter A means shit really! When you have two men like that going toe to toe something will give, it is not a question of superiority on lennox's part, you could argue that vitali at 32 who was plagued with injuries (always has been) was hardly prime either especially training for cedric fuckin boswell....
10 years ago if I told you Vitali Klitschko was going to make beating undefeated fighters a habit of his, nobody would have believed it. Holyfield went 1-1-1 with john ruiz a year after the lewis rematch. Vitali went onto a streak of unbroken wins. Do not deny the greatness that is vitali klitschko...
And the fact remains that the 5 fights he had with 2 SHW's comparable to the klitschko's he won 1, yes he is a helluva fighter but he is also a steroid freak, do u honestly think he has been able to maintain such a physique and longevity on fruit shakes! Evander and marciano were my TWO greatest p4p HW's af all time until i found out about the 'evan fields' debacle....his rematch with lewis was impressive at 37 but for me the physically most impressive display by any HW fighter in that period would have to be the Assassination of the hero riddick bowe by mental midget Andrew Golota
Vitali for me is the Greatest H2H fighter ever.
