PPV in the 1960' and 1970's

I was only 7 but I remember the Odeon cinema in Leeds showing the Ali v Holmes fight live in 1980.

I remember because our next door neighbour worked there and she had to go to work - this kind of thing was big news back then !!

Not sure if this happened regularly back then or if this was a one off

I may be wrong but I thought the fight was on ITV?

It may have been the Holmes v Cooney fight though.

In the 60's and 70's it was all CCTV, I used to regularly go to my nearest partaking Cinema, which was the Hammersmith Odeon. Saw most of Ali's fights that way. Was always a good (if late) night with obviously only proper boxing fans there and no Hoolies.
