Canelo is a small junior middleweight, although I imagine he'll grow into his body more as he ages a little bit (he's only 22).
Martinez is a small middleweight now, who has stated on the record that he could get down to 154 without too much of an issue if the fight was right.
If Floyd wanted to go out like a boss, he would beat the best at 154 in Trout now, and then Canelo once Canelo beats a ranked opponent, and follow those with a jump up to 160 to beat Martinez.
If Floyd does go up to middleweight he would be one of the greatest fighters ever.
