What I said is right. I get that because you are emotionally invested in Barker that ypu think this fight was better then it was but it was nothing special. Fights like that are on week in week out and because its not a Brit fighting for a world title it would not get anywhere near this recognition.

Ha! That is a ludicrous case of misrepresentation. It was a great fight but you were never going to acknowledge that because you don't rate Barker. I am not sure in a year like this it is FOTY but to call it nothing special just reveals the enormity of the chip on your shoulder.

Incredible fight, but apparently 2 judges gave Barker the 12th round, which in turn gave him the fight. I didn't keep a scorecard prior to that, but a monkey could tell you Geale won the 12th. Kind of shady imo.

I had it even after 9 w/the 10/8 and made it a best out of 3. I leaned to Barker giving him 10 and 11 albeit close rds but thought Geale got the 12th. I wondered about the judges as Barker closed the round.

Barker's effort after the knockdown was outstanding, taking a body shot like that and continuing shows a lot of heart, he actually improved after the wind was taken out of him. But the judging of the final round is disgraceful.

Fun fight just caught it on hbo again and barker desrved the nod imo. maybe I'm crazy but I don't think givin barker the 12th is a great crime, I had geale edging it for hurtin barker once or twice in there but it wasn't a dominating one sided round or anything and thought it was competitive as were most of the rounds. Foty it is not me for me , but a good solid scrap and to say we get fights like this weekly is selling it a bit short.

If the judges had've given Barker some of the rounds he clearly one, then that would not be relevant. You can't pick one round's judging as being the deciding factor in a fight.

How Barker got up from that shot I have no idea. Divine Intervention is I can think of!

Not sure why you posted this given that I said as much to begin with. I agree Barker clearly deserved the decision, just don't see how he won the 12th and for whatever reason it WAS the deciding factor.

When I rewatched the fight I didn't think Geale won the 12th round as big as I originally thought, he still won it mind.

Another theory could be - the judge mixed up who the fighters were as Eddie Cotton did at one point and as Roy did a hundred times for HBO

I think 2 foreign white middleweights really fucked Roy and Eddie Cotton up lol. The low blow warning to Barker was as absurd as absurd gets, but according to HBO he realized his mistake after the round. The 12th was Geales round but I wouldnt call it an agregious offense considering the state of boxing judging. Still, great fight, not fight of the year. It's different strokes though, I didn't find Jones lebedev as entertaining as others did but it was still clearly a great bout.

I don't rate Jones but Jones Lebedev was far better then this fight. As we're the 3 main fights on the Berto-Karas Soto card.

Again if you take your emotions towards barker it was not that good a fight. It was a good fight but there was no point I was like "holy shit".

Exactly. Was a good fight but I don't think it was even fight of the weekend let alone the year. I though Mollo-Spzilka 2 was more entertaining then the Geale fight.
