Good for Murray, I hope he gets a nice pay day but I doubt he will get the win

Nice fight, don't give Murray much chance to win but he's the best opponent GGG will have been in with for sure imo. Funny that he was signed to fight Wood in Aus but they just pulled that completely, I wonder if it has anything to do with Mosley-Mundine being back on or not.

    Solid opponent

I'm not one to often judge GGGs competition but I'm starting to wonder why he never at least makes an offer to the bigger name guys. He says he wants to fight them, what could it hurt to at least make an offer?

That is hilarious and very good point. I was talking to my gym mates after the Stevens fight and we all questioned the same. There is this spill that Golovkin is so avoided but then I thought who actually avoided him? His team keeps saying he is so avoided that he'll fight anywhere from 154 to 175. Yet the man keeps getting fights without having to leave his division. He even had guys go up to his weight. So I wondered is this all assumption that people are avoiding him because his team and commentators talk this way. Does anybody have any facts to back up that he offered any big name a fight or at least contacted them for a negotiation and was ignored? Maybe they feel this way because they expect big names to just come to him. Its real easy for us fans to fall into the avoided theory because of how he looks so I understand the portrayal around his scene. But like you said he should at least offer some of these guys a fight and then we can fairly assess if he is truly being avoided or just assumed so.

There's really only Martinez and Quillin though, and neither of those fights could be made right now I suspect.

GGG offered Sturm a fight a lot of times as far as I'm aware. Quillin fight won't happen because of war, Marrinez is out injured and Marrinezs manager said he had no interest in taking a fight with GGG. It's not like GGG has huge financial backing to get these big fights.

Murray is the "interim" Wba champion which is the exact same thing as the "mandatory challenger" with the only difference being that they decided early in this century to start giving this person a belt. I guess to remind them of their number one position in case they forgot.

Murray is not a fighter full of big paydays and even his venues are limited. Its pretty sad that even the number one contender wont fight the champion and wiggle out of it by using a worthless trinket that is a step below the other one. Hatton logs like a bit of a mug also after watching that press conference that @Fenster posted.

Well that sucks. Basically means neither will have a solid opponent, and that they are both champions for the WBA to boot is a riot. Now I thought Murray beat Sturm and came really close against Martinez, he's a solid fighter. Here's a fun fact though. He won his version of the interm WBA title against a guy who was 12-0 and had fought ONE man with a winning record, who was 8-2. Only fighters make belts worth a damn thing these days.

Hatton doesn't look like a mug if Murray fights for the WBA regular title or is "elevated" to champion. If Murray gets a WBA belt without facing Golovkin team Hatton have played a blinder

Ahh I see yes its all rather confusing with all these buckles floating around. The Wba does not have a regular champion in this division so indeed Murray could be going for the vacant belt. Lets hope its at least a top ten opponent. The Wba was supposed to have the "interim" tattoo removed by the middle of this year so although late perhaps this is one of the steps.
