Wilder never takes his time to settle in the ring either so I think he'll always be a first half fighter. He will let the hands fly immediately. How he handles someone that punches back is the main issue...can he control distance? Can he control pace? Will he force it or will he wait for the right opening? Wilder is just a mountain of unknowns.
Like everyone else, I want to see Wilder in big fight, I like the guy but I want to like him more
I'm not a Wlad fan at all but I think he would beat Stiverne without much problem. Wlad is a crafty SOB and he knows how to win a fight no matter how ugly he looks doing it.
Lyle makes great points, Stiv is very fast. Like Michael Dokes, deceptively fast. He would survive probably the whole fight with Wlad.
I agree. Stiverne is nothing special and he's no match for Wlad..
Im not sure Stiverne beats jennings.. probably not.
Tyson fury would smoke him too
these things can always get delayed.. pulev has been number 1 for a while but he wanted to have a few more fights before fighting wlad.. povetkin was mandatory for years before declining the opportunity.. I think wladimir will chase the wbc belt and win it and not long afterwards retire after he finds out he is not allowed at the olympics in 2016.. and team fury will dilly dally and fight for the vacant belt S:
it seems to be the way his career is going, he doesnt seem to be able to lose ! fury has cosmic energy on his side
Stiverne has to fight wilder though, Wlad should be a man and fight pulev, the fury and then wilder or stiverne .
Pulev is the one who got to number 1 status and chose to take 2 other fights before trying to make the wladimir fight.. Wladimir will take this fellows if he can but I think his focus is on the wbc belt and if he can get all 4 I think he's done.. He's old and would have it all, I dont think the motivation would be there to go on for another 10 or so fights to get to this joe louis record.. Then Fury can move in and rule the heavyweight scene !
Out of any contender about fury has the best chance of beating Wlad. But emphasise the word chance...fury would make it competitive but wlads boxing ability and experience at the highest level would be too much for Fury. I like fury a lot but I just know wlad is too much for fury. I've not seen any signs of late that Wlad has been vulnerable for a beating either. He is boring but really good wlad, he gets the job done.
I know the Brits are over the hill across the bridge for Fury but he just does not have a chance against Wlad. Fury depends on his size to win fights; pushing opponents around the ring and manhandling them in the corners; his jab and punch are decent but it's mainly due to his size; he uses his reach to keep his opponents at a safe distance but he depends on the advantage too much; his speed and athletic ability are OK, for a big man, but they just don't compare to what Wlad brings to the ring; last but not least, he does not have the experience that Wlad owns.
All the things that Fury has depended on over his career are going to be nullified when he gets into the ring with Wlad.
Honestly, I don't like the way either one of them fight but Wlad does it so much better!
Too small
You can always tell when somebody doesn't know what they're talking about. That too small shit is a dead givaway.
Brewster is the same size and KO'd Vlad.
Size isnt the reason he can't beat Vlad it's his inabilty to BOB and WEAVE his way in.
Vlad is a sitting duck for the 'bob and weave' style...
ALL tall fighters are.
