Its hard to understand because a few have the name Hughie in the same family and also more than one family member/ uncle has trained Tyson.
Peters (im presuming) brother Hughie used to train Tyson. A Hughie was Tysons trainer around the time of the Chisora bout.
This Hughie was ill and had surgery and apparently it didnt go well and his family were told to be by his bedside.
When the Chisora bout was called off it wasnt Warren ramming Ustinov down the Furys throats as an alternate opponent, it was Peter Fury who went to Frank Warren and said that Tyson wanted to fight who could Frank muster.
A dying family member isnt a cut eye (which Tyson himself fought with in his last bout).
I still believe Tyson wanted to fight and that he had the better of Ustinov. Peter is the reason behind Tysons success lately and if Peter is bedside while his brother is fighting for his life he isnt going to want Tyson risking his career going in with no trainer against a fighter so vastly different and more dangerous than the original scheduled opponent without a calming hand at the helm.
I'm no fan of Fury and think him somewhat a tool but the dumping on the guy at any opportunity gets a little thick. He's not the guy that started this. It was Del Boys last minute bail out. I think its a stretch to suggest that he would be afraid of that three toed sloth because of his size. Unless Fury got cocky and sloppy as the fight drifted into the later stages this would be easy work for Fury. The only thing the guy had over Fury was weight. As long as Fury didn't try to hard to dent that cromagnon skull he would have been fine.
It could also be true that he went ahead with Chisora even though his uncle was sick because it was to late in the day to pull out but when it came down to it even after accepting the late sub and going through the motions at the weigh in he had a genuine change of heart and just maybe his family became his priority and because of that he simply could not get up for the fight.
You do not go through with the weigh in, taunt and tease a giant simpleton and then back out THE DAY OF THE FIGHT.
Only Ken Shamrock against Kimbo Slice comes to mind for a guy doing something like this the day of the fight. Ken claimed he got injured training that day, but I think fear got the better of him.
Probably got the better of fury here too. The fear of losing, the embarrassment and loss of immediate big paydays perhaps more so than Ustinov himself.
Whether you like Fury or not he deserves the stick.
If his opponent pulled out claiming a family member was ill he wouldn't give a shit, he'd be all over twitter/the media calling him a shithouse coward and letting everyone know he'd fight with no eyes and broken arms.
If you can't take it don't dish it out. Big shithouse.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
I totally agree with this
I can understand him pulling out, its not ideal something like this happening on the night before you fight the best opponent you will have faced by a hundred million miles, but fury wouldn't have accepted this happening himself
I think he'd have lost
Officially the only saddo who has had a girlfriend
Any word on his uncle? Sounds like he's unwell but stable (still).
So you can be reasonable when it comes to withdrawing from fights?
I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt but if you constantly taunt and try to humiliate oppenents that have to withdraw you have to expect it back in return.
Occasionally fighters need to withdraw from fights for reasons other than fear, maybe Fury will remember that in future.

I agree he will take stick. How can he not? Justified or not.
The Furys are a close family and this happened the night before the fight. Hughie (the uncle not Peters son) was in intensive care potentially on his death bed.
This wasnt something that had happened weeks or even days before giving everyone time to settle down and recover.
I will also say though that if his uncle and old trainer, (this is the man that was in his corner for the original Chisora bout and its also the same man who is Peter, Tysons current trainers brother) is genuinely fighting for his life with a blood clot that its not something that you would entertain doing to yourself to help your nephew get out of a fight.
Tyson may or may not have wanted to go ahead with the bout regardless that his uncle may be dying but I doubt very much that Peter would have left the hospital to be with Tyson and Eddie rather than stay bedside during what could have been his brothers last moments alive.
All I know for sure is that Tyson has had a frustrating, pressure packed year or so trying to get back into the ring. I would not want to be the opponent he finally gets a chance to vent against!
Good luck to his uncle.
