I don't know what happened between .50 and Floyd, but I can tell you that the ability to read is not a reliable indicator of intelligence.
I have known people (we all have) that can read, but can't keep their bills paid or take a coat with them when it's cold out side. I know two people who can't read at all, but own successful businesses.
You might know someone who is a very poor reader and not realize it because they have learned over the years to disguise it.
I have no idea if Floyd can read or not, but if you ever discover someone who can't read, do not make the mistake of automatically assuming you are more intelligent.
    Its true...

But I would still rather read and be rich. Lol

Aside from the circus/reality tv feel, this whole thing is simply odd and it was started by a guy who can barely talk cause he was shot in the face for acting the thug. To stoop to this level, one of a 10 year old tells you all you need to know about the messenger.

Is it really that surprising or news worthy for people to find out the Floyd may have problems with reading skills? The guy was born and placed in a gym and had a family life that was completely broken.

His university was the squared circle and his professors were George Benton, Archie Moore etc etc, his uncles, his father and history. His life was to be premeditated with an entire family living vicariously through him. This was his "education" and he has earned a doctorate degree in it and makes more money then most likely all university professors combined. I'm sure its a trade off and he could miss his lost childhood in his own thoughts. Chances are that had he gotten what is classed as a normal upbringing, he would not be the same fighter we see before us today. In fact he may have never made it to the big leagues. And that can also be said about other atg's many of whom could not read or write.

I bet Floyd knows how to sign a deposit slip.

I don't buy the argument that Floyd has a ton of money so who cares if can't read. I don't judge a man by his income. I also don't judge a man by his level of education. Success is determined by where you started and where you ended up. Floyd is a successful man and should be proud. Ray Ramona once said something about his wife complaining about how she didn't like some of his jokes and he told her to go home and cry in a big bag of money.
I don't get into fighters personal lives and he is no angel in terms of domestic crap and everything else. I don't know if he is a good guy or a bad guy. But this whole illiteracy thing started by 50 is nothing but harmful. I don't want to talk about cultural stereotypes but Doug Fisher has a good article on other sites going into how this is not helping.
I know a lot of well educated men that forget to take a jacket when they go outdoors in the winter and couldn't pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel.
Ali couldn't read well if at all and he had a quicker mind than most.
This whole thing is kind of sad on 50 cents end and may end up backfiring. If I spelled any words wrong in this post please let 50 know.

Floyd can read but has dyslexia so certain types of reading will trouble him. But I'm sure we'll learn something about foot placement in the slip jab counter right in this thread because these are always the most informative threads . They must be since every boxing message board has many threads like this.

Floyd wants, enjoys, craves, and looks for the attention, and has to take the good with the bad!
Poor guy, that's the life of a high profile millionaire celeb. LOL. Hell, billionaire for all I know!

Well said. 50 is the one who looks like a pathetic attention whore in this whole thing.

What jumps out to me on the checks is that the drug testing only cost 25k. That is cheap enough to be included in every major fight. And I bet another 25k would cover random tests year round.

Call me cheap but I thought that was expensive.
