Well after maybe Brook then Broner - a marquee name and easy win imo for khan - I just don't get this one.

Safety first. This guy has punch power to rival Malignaggi.

Strange choice and as said does nothing to enhance his status with the main men.

    What the fuck?

What the hell is the benefit for Khan? Algieri gets some more cash a chance at a top level fighter so it is understandable for him to take this..... but what does Khan get from this?

Such a shitty fight for someone who has soooo many options.

    Losing my liking for Khan.

Like I said before, I've tried liking khan but the guy is a twat. There is no logical reason to make this fight when he has so many options with bigger names.

He just barks but doesn't do anything to help his case. You can't take him serious after choosing Algieri over all the other options out there.

It will be a one sided fight , but still a good one. Shame really this doesn't do much to progress Khan. He needs a high risk fight again like the Maidana one , to prove he's still a top name. He best fight somebody decent to close the year.

    I think I've figured out Khan's logic
He's copying Pacquiao, Pac's last fight was Algieri so he thinks he might land a Mayweather fight by doing the same

Well this says everything you need to know about Amir Khan. And to be fair , a lot of people ( me included) thought Eddie Hearn was making it up and being mischievous when he said about this fight.
Khan has turned himself into a complete and utter joke! Earlier, In another thread, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, saying that it was GBP shielding him from the big punchers, but he doesn't have that excuse anymore.
In his last fight, it was reported his purse was $700k (£450k). Against Algieri ,with no title at stake, he'll struggle to make half that. We're led to believe that he was offered £5MILLION to fight Brook at Wembley for a WORLD TITLE! Somebody please justify his thinking to me please.

Khan's on the money milking train and following suit with all of the fighters. If he fights algieri, he doesnt have to worry about getting ko'd. Algieri's style is to run and and cover. He's been dropped 8 (?) times in his last 2 fights. So even if khan cant knock him out, its and easy points win as Algieri is not an aggressive fighter. Khan figured he'd make a showcase fight before everyone forgot who algieri is... at this stage algieri is at least still known as the guy pac stomped a mud hole in. If he does intend to fight brook later this year. He doesn't want to lose to someone like broner, who's still deceptive enough to catch khan coming in and could balloon to a mystery weight at fight night and pack some pop. Thurman too, aggressive.... Garcia, well we saw what happened last time.. peterson is matched with garcia. Algieri respresents no risk and probably a way to look impressive going into negotiations with brook.. Straight right hands find Algieri on the pivot real easy
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

Algieri is a step backwards for Khan, he needed to fight a legit welterweight like Brook, Thurman or Maidana. After this choice of opponent I hope Khan gets passed over by the Mayweather/ Pacquaio winner.

I assume it is to set him up v pacquaio if pac man loses to mayweather. If khan stops algieri coupled with khan and pac mans previous sparring history then there is an angle to work with, obviously it is a bit of a crap fight and big fans can spot that but I think you could sell that angle to the general public and make pac man khan happen... I am not saying it is a good way for khan to go but I would think this is his/his teams big plan.

The perceived upset would be something if it happened and it could. I thought Amir looked great against Alexander. I think the extra weight gave him his legs back but he risks much here. Khan is the kind of fighter that could easily take his eye off the ball in this one. He has a pretty high opinion of himself and could fall asleep on this guy thinking its easy work. He must think that knocking out Algieri when others could not makes some kind of statement.. From my standpoint, I dont think Floyd or Manny have any intention on fighting the guy but at least he'd have a little bigger soap box to stand on had he fought a different opponent.

In addition he's had lots of opportunity to answer the call of others and has not. Shit even Brook said he's like to fight right away. Which leads me to Khans potty mouth. He said he'd end Kells career and that Kell knows this and is trying to cash out. How does Amir get his head through his doorway? I may be in the minority but I think there is a real chance at Algieri not memorizing the script. Would Khan/Brook even be a desired fight anywhere but England if Chris beats him? Its got some meaning now and a real edge to it. Not sure much of that remains if Khan gets beat.

It's a smart business decision for Khan but a worthless fight otherwise. Khan is taking easy fights in the hope that one day he can force a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight. All the guys he beats aren't big punchers for a reason.

When is Haymon going to put two of his welterweight A-sides together? He has Khan, Thurman, Broner, Garcia, all around the same weight. Any mix of those 4 makes for a good fight.
