The Calzaghe's were pissed, and decided to represent Sardinia instead of Great Britain at a dual meet where Joe met Chris Byrd. Byrd had had 300+ amateur bouts and had never been stopped, Calzaghe was the first to stop him (and it was Byrd's last ever amateur bout). Apparently Joe was losing the fight until catching up with Byrd right at the end and getting the stoppage in the last few seconds!
I guess that you are a Byrd fan and that is cool with me - just to correct you Byrd had like 275 fights and was loosing only about 25 fights - one of them was a USA vs. Italy/GB fight against Calzaghe, when he was stopped.

Wow that they fight to eachother in old time . . . Hey was Byrd and Cal still teenager or what ? ? ?

Calzaghe would of probably fast become a star in America and probably could of retired by 2000.
