As he was beginning his career, I saw him spar hundreds of rounds. I have spent many hours in the Figueroa family gym in Harlingen, Texas. His father, brother and Brandon himself are quality people.
Manny Robles, who trained Brandon for this fight, is an LA based trainer, the son of the legendary blind trainer, Chato Robles. Manny is a humble man, and it is great to seem him add another world champion to his ledger.
Classic and nostalgic memories from Gray not so old, as usual, and brings back memories of Harlingen Texas for me as well but not in the boxing sense. If it wasn't for gray not so old that whole Unforgettable Mission Texas experience would never have happened. Will be eternally grateful to gray not so old for the entire Mission Texas experience from December 2020 until May 2023.

Manny Robles has come across really well when he does his interviews. He was not happy that Nick Balls team did not have one of his team present during the wrapping of his hands which is normal for world title fights. He certainly could have kicked off about the stupid antics after the stoppage by Ball's team.

Instead Manny was calm, diplomatic and composed. Class act.

Brandon Figueroa is a hell of a boxer. That was a spectacular ending to the fight.

I don't go that way too often anymore. I stay out of the gyms here because none of these lames are going to fight anybody. There is a reason why Montana is the 48th wealthiest state and it has a lot to do with laziness, cowardice and lack of work ethic.

We drove from Dallas up through Raton New Mexico into Colorado and then Wyoming and Utah into Oregon and then all the way up to seattle. It was a four-day Rent-A-Car with Avis. We were considering going up through Montana but it was too far out of the way. Now I know the kind of driving you did to make it down to El Paso or McAllen. Did you use to drive that non-stop or what? We had to stop four nights in hotels because it's well over 2,000 miles

Tough night for Ball and a major resurgence for Brandon who looked rough over the last couple fights. Ball seemingly ahead but you could tell he was collecting and carrying some damage as it went deep. Sort of played out a little bit like I thought Ball-Espinoza might go. But now a deep division have another top player and great match ups can be made!
