That was awesome against Lacy, but it wasnt the Brits who hyped Lacy up and was raving about he was the new Tyson (or something to that effect). Lacy was a very good fighter but inexperienced Calzaghe was good enough to expose this as well as Lacy being one dimensional without the ability to realise he needs to chnge his plan.

JC gets my respect for a good performance but will not be considered a great unless we see him win another 2-3 superfights before he retires.

An old RJJ does not beat JC, when he is being overwhelmed by JC workrate i cant imagine him digging deep and fighting his way out the trenches he will take it for one last payday and just survive.

I'lll never be JC biggest fan but if he can take on the best there is until he retires like a true champ should and make up for the wasted years then i will consider him one of the greatest of his division.
Do you mean old RJJ like the old man, or old Roy like when he was good? Because the good Roy Jones Jr. like the one at SMW would have eaten Calzaghe alive... He was so much faster, so much better, and so much stronger it isn't even funny. EIther than Roy Jones Jr. I can't see anyone in the SMW division who would have beaten Calzaghe. He would is too fast for Benn who has a far weaker chin than Lacy. Maybe Gerald M. would have given him a good fight, but I think Calzaghe is the second best SMW ever now that I've watched more of his fights. That being said after watching Kessler against Lucas I think he is also in the top 5 best SMW I've ever seen.

Chris Eubank had a good chance in his prime, because he only had 11 days to prepare for him the first time and actually hurt Calzagle a few times almost knocking him out in the final round.

RJJ today can beat Calzaghe no doubt about it!!!!!! RJJ would stick and move even though RJJ chin is suspect today Calzaghe does not possess the one punch knock out power to Knock out Roy HE CANT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! tarver has a punch the road warrior has a punch but not calzaghe!!!!!!! Calzaghe would have to rely on accumalative punishment on Roy,he is still to quick for Calzaghe and Roy would be brave and not to shy to punch more Matter of fact Roy can use this fight to get back some respect Roy would Toy with him

Calzaghe is a pre Madonna he is the ultimate Champion of Mediocrity!!!!!!! to stay in a division like Super middleweight is a Joke!!!!!! Just like anyone who calls theselves great in the Cruiserweight division is a joke those divisions are a stepping stone to other divisions Calzaghe had one good fight against Lacy,Lacy has a good support system and is very mature and will learn from his loss and will be back on top no doubt!!!!! he has a steel chin, heart of a lion and helacious power he has to get an effective jab and work off of that and work on the defense and he will be a great light weight champ Bottom line!!

I think Chris Eubank had the best chance of anyone outside Jones against Calzaghe as well, but I don't think he could have pulled it off. Remember Calzaghe wasn't as skilled back then, but he still seems off balance alot, and his weak hands are a problem.

OK if you disagree with Lacy moving up to lightweight tell me why Tell me again if Calzaghe is so great why has he never fought a big name fight, let alone not even in the U.S...Why all the talk about him moving up to lightweight now I dont give a crap if he is the longest reigning champion,I can go to a school yard and be the the reigning sandbox champ outside of ridiculous what challenge would that be?? He hung around in a scrub division and thats undeniable..

Yes I have seen the Lacy Calzaghe fight Joe fought a flawless fight he put on a clinic... I admit he had it all working hand speed slipping punches etc... Boxing is all about matchups and it was not a good one Jeff was jumping in and pushing his left while trying to bull Joe around Joe kept his hands going and was moving and showing Jeff to many angles and keeping Jeff off balance, again Jeff will be back I never buy into the the hype I look at fights without being jaded by the hoopla,I am a huge Lacy fan I admit and have been for a few years he is explosive and exciting to watch and is very much a gentlemen

Jeff going into this fight had major flaws that everyone knew no defense and a nonexistent jab and lack of defense...But were was he to go unless he moved down to middle weight or up to lightweight he wrecked everyone he fought Sheika gave him a good fight Williams exposed his lackluster defense but showed how great his chin is though....Jeff said he would fight anyone even dropping down to middleweight to challenge hopkins when Taylor was dragging ass during there 1st fight negoitians Lacy has tremendous power and could knockout a heavyweight!!!!!! but while he was getting his ass kicked he never tyied to quit and kept moving forward thats heart folks!!!!!

I think banning works. He would have to set up another e-mail account and re-join.

in fact throughout this thread ive noted a few rather preposterous postings.....i quote jtrock "calzaghe is the ultimate champion of mediocrity". i like it how jeff lacy is now being rewritten as a fighter who is completely lacking in every department and so it was an easy nights work for calzaghe....

that wasnt the way most folks were talking up the fight prior to fight night!? how fickle some people are...

admittedly calzaghe showed up all the possible flaws in lacys game, but noone else was able to do it so effectively. calzaghe is again begin underestimated and downplayed...
