And to say that Liverpool play long ball is just ignorant. Chelsea are far more liable to play long ball because (rightly) they play accoring to their stregths (Drogba, the fwockin beast!).

Gerrard is the only player at the moment who is in love with the long ball because he is in a world of his own. I love what he has done for us but IMO he isnt a team player.

When we play best, we own the offside trap, we move the ball quickly through midfield and focus on sneeking our fullbakcs into some nice positions. We've always suffered with our width further up the pitch but ive never seen us resort to long ball 

Gerrard isn't a team player I declare shennanigans on that! He gives all he has for every match, he's the leader out there on the pitch and Liverpool would be lost without him....mainly because midfield is as shallow as the striker situation last year....anytime Pennant and Kewell are close to being starters it's time to get some more midfielders

As for what Liverpool do best....I'd say when Finan is ripping crosses in to Crouch; Gerrard, Vorronin, Torres, Kuyt, Benayoun are all good with their footwork and can drive with the ball. The team has changed a bit and it's not crazy that the strategy would change along with the chemistry of the team. Rafa wanted Torres and Kuyt and he had the idea the long ball would work for them and to some point he's correct but by playing the long ball he's leaving some guys out of the mix on the attack....I know you don't want to rely on guys like Riise to score goals but I can't remember the last time he had a shot on goal.

*Granted the strategy of soccer is something I am still learning the ins and outs of so if I get something wrong don't brow beat me and tell me I know nothing about it....if I don't know anything about it then there is the opportunity for someone ot explain it to me so either explain it or say I have it right, don't give me a bunch of shit about it.....I am not a fucking soccer coach so there's a lot I don't know about

Otherwise though i do see your point. Gerrard is Liverpool really, but there are times (Like the Everton game as a key example) were you can see that Gerard sometimes (at the wrong times) has his own agenda.

Maybe its down to him not being developed in the right way. Him being our best player by far has given him the right to do what he feels. He's too instinctive for me.

On the other hand maybe we line up with the wrong formation

Personally, id like to see how we play with wing-backs.

This way the midfield is stable, Gerrad has attacking freedom, Riise & Arbloa's abilities are highlighted and there is less chance of the 'last fullback' not getting the offside trap right.

I've been a fan of the Boston Red Sox since the day I was born and I have watched all their games and knew all their players and I have only just started to make plans to go see them play in Fenway....does that make me not a true Red Sox fan? If that was the F****** case the Sox would have the smallest fan base in the world because Fenway only seats 38,805 people! And yet I cheer for them whether they win the World Series or they don't even make the playoffs, I am a Red Sox fan and no one will ever change that.

As for Liverpool, I don't cheer for United or Chelsea or Everton or anyone else I only cheer for Liverpool and for an American I do believe I know a good deal about the sport and the team so I am not a fair weather fan and I never have been.

You can feel however you want to feel about me being a Liverpool fan and it's not going ot change anything, I watch them on TV, I follow them on this thing called "the internet", and I own 2 Liverpool jerseys.....and maybe I'll take another trip to Europe sometime and when I get to Anfield or the new stadium they are going to build, look for the big drunk American in the Reds jersey and if you have a problem with me we'll fix it but until then....I guess you'll have to fume about my support of the 'Pool all the way over where ever you are.
