I remember that people lost their MINDS about Matt Damon being in that movie and why? Because they ASSUMED he took a role meant for an Asian actor and that Hollywood whitewashed that role.

Now @Memphis allow me to ask you.....was Matt Damon's character supposed to be Asian?
So....are you are pissed off about something that didn't actually happen or pissed off at people being pissed off at an injustice that wasn't really an injustice because it never happened to a millionaire actor....in the movie thread?
Excuse me, did I @-mention you Beanz? So the purpose of you jumping into a discussion between myself and Memphis is what? You are trying to score some points here because you're just getting hammered in the other thread by me?

Beanz are you some sort of masochist? Do you derive pleasure from the debate throttlings I've recently given you? Have you enjoyed those that much?

I apologise. I remember watching Bertolucci 's "The Last Emperor" in the cinema when it was released. Byrnes music was great, O'Toole was great and the cinematography was spectacular. Had me in tears at times. Never seen it since. The Great Wall seems like Dynasty Warriors, though I am sure it is probably quite enjoyable.Ghost in the Shell apparently had some race hoo ha if you are tickled by that kind of thing. Must ask my stepson about it, he is a big manga fan and even more Wapanese than me.Also Loved that mild mannered janitor whilst growing up.

Now casting Scarlet Johansson as whoever the lead is in 'Ghost In The Shell' is something that might actually BE "whitewashing" I don't know much about it other than it's a Japanimation Manga so I am not 100% certain if the lead character is supposed to be Caucasian/White Non hispanic. So maybe the SJW's have a case for that one.

The issue about 'The Great Wall' is that the character Matt Damon plays was never supposed to be an Asian guy, I brushed up on the story and he's playing a character named 'William Garin'.....not exactly an Asian name ergo my laughing at people who just assumed 'The Great Wall', movie about the Great Wall in China, so everyone associated with the movie should be Asian/not white. The outraged were too quick on the trigger for that one....that's all I was saying about it.

The director decided that Matt Damon's character wouldn't be Chinese so he got the best Matt Damon he could get, which was Matt Damon.

Lion - True story of two coal scavenging brothers in 80's India. Guddu and Saroo go on a job, Saroo falls asleep on the platform whilst Guddu continiues to scavenge. Saroo wakes up to no brother and an empty station. He gets on a train which takes him to Calcutta where he lives on the street and eventually an orphanage. He's eventually adopted and sent to Australia. Fast forward 20 years he begins the search for his home town that he doesn't really know the name of and his brother, Mother and sister who were left behind.

An uplifting story that warms the cockles. Dev Patel is a fine young actor. The only down side was the blatant white washing of the movie. Expecting me to buy Nicole Kidman as a ginger haired Australian women? C'mon!

Walked into USS Indianapolis few nights ago. Nick Cage was struggling but tremendous real life story. To be adrift for four days..they left them there or the plan unfolds. I also haven't seen model aircraft effects that bad since some old Godzilla or original King Kong movie.

5th wave about aliens taking over the world first with electricity going down, earth quake, bird flu and so on. It was more of a teen flick.

Power Rangers Movie - Fucking awesome! My kids grew up watching it, so by proxy I watched it, we all wanted to see it. It was great, nuff said.

Fast 8 - It was OK, does what it says on the tin, a couple of hours of high octane nonsense. The whole Paul walker being dead thing was handled clumsily I thought. Jason Statham kicking the piss out of people whilst holding a baby in a car seat was a great bit of action.

Watched a movie called Arrival. It's another alien ships appear all over the world and hang out. The movies focuses quite a bit on developing a way to communicate with the aliens. It's a very slow burn and try's to be very deep. It's alright but I wouldn't rush out to see it.
