It still amazes me that he is competitive with the Heavies considering he spent the 1st seven years of his career as a Middleweight and is 38 years old.

Toney controlled the ring and landed the cleaner shots. You could tell by looking at Sam Peter after the fight that even he didn't think he won. 115-113 Toney

I dont agree with the result, but well done on getting the pick

I would never have thought Peter would get a decision, a KO maybe, but an actual decision

Honestly, I was thrilled with the fight & the performances by both men. Hell...I'd like to see a rematch.

Peter did good & Toney did well...just on the fact that he could take the shots.

Sorry Wack, wish i coulda been around for this one....was planning to be but was just knackered after a long day's life outside the DRBR scene, and didn't quite have the energy to bring it back for the fight, i was in the lounge on the couch asleep, though the window was open to the DRBR, just didn't shift from the couch. sounds like it was well worth watching, and I'll be on youtube looking for it later on.

CC for your work big fella, and nice one Peter, well chuffed with that result.

Fight was close but WTF with 116-111 that is BS. I had it 115-113 for Toney, rematch would be nice. I was impresed with both figthers for going 12 rounds, never tought Sam would get decision. Fight was too close could of gone eather direction but what bother me is 116-111 what fight those two judges was watching

Read through the round by round thread earlier to find out what happened last night. As I was reading through it it seemed like it was going to be a good advert for the heavyweight division but the judges seem to have blown it with the scoring. Shame as it is not what boxing needs. From what i have read on the thread it seemed like a really good close fight and the scores did not do it justice. Anyway keep up the good work wacko and really enjoy your round by round threads and it is a great way of keeping informed of the fights we dont get to see live here in the UK. CC.

Super close fight. I thought it was going to be a draw. JFAT landed more shots but they didnt do shat to Peter. Peter did land some big shots that seemed to hurt JFAT. Another thing that im sure has been posted:JFAT started each round fast but Peter finished them better.
No way do I want to see a rematch. I see Peter giving Oleg a serious beat down.

    CC wacko thanks as usual

your moderating comments regarding robbery are all well and good. But turn your attention instead from the radical responses of fans to the actual official scores and judge them if you would.

116-111 - without the point reduction we're talking 117-110 by two judges on a fight you said was close and could go either way, and on first watching had it for the other boxer.

Those scores by two judges at ringside really puts your assessment of the fight in question. Instead of being so damnably sensible about this, can you respond to their rather significant disagreement with you? 117-110 doesn't seem very close a-tall ...

That said, and hope it gets a rise out of you it is great that Sam stood in with Toney and showed some composure and skills. Good for him!

I didn't get to see this fight - damn grad school! - but I'm really surprised by the result. Hats off to Peter, though.

So did Peter look like he learned anything from the fight with Wlad? Or was it just a matter of his strength negating some of Toney's skill?

Thanks again for the RBR, Wacko!

You are right. That margin is very unjust. No way did Peter win by that distance....heck, he didnt even win as many rounds as Toney!!!

it was close imo but toney pulled of a close UD.......fucking fat motherfuckers had a good showing but still makes me wonder what the fight would have been like if they had come in shape.......

W all said a focussed Toney at 225 would box rings around peter.....even at 38...

Its frustrating being a Toney fan sometimes, even though he won...

We all know what these judges can be like....

Based on the pace for a heavyweight fight, I think both guys came in pretty good shape...While I think Toney won a close decision I believe Peter was a much improved fighter from where he was when he fought Vlad...Sam's punches were short reasonably accurate and he came in behind a jab, something I haven't really seen from him before and did you see Peter landing the hook on Toney? nice stuff...I think both of these guys beat Maskaev but Peter does it spectacularly...

So peter beats Oleg...is it Peter/Wlad 2 or Peter/Valuev 1 and Wlad get rid of Liachovich(sp.)...how do you think is goes down?

Maybe...but there aren't any skilled fighters like Toney, Hopkins, Wright, Mayweather, & the likes...just a lot more blood & rednecks.
I love boxing, hence the reason I'm here, but if you're saying that MMA isn't offering up skilled fighters you're insane. Maybe rednecks relate, or more apporopriatley more "common people" relate because fights actually get made. Wladerlei Silva and Matt Hughes have as much talent as any fighter fighter on this earth, in any combat sport.

Again, I love boxing. It's still my main sport, but the soap opera drama that's involved after every fight wears on me. Hell, two major fights happened this weekend, and people are crying foul over both of them.
