I could see AJ accepting that fight should he beat Wlad but do not think Wilder would be that interested unless AJ came over to USA which AJ would probably do.

That fight in as of itself would probably be the most exciting and anticipated HW championship fight since early in the Wlad days, before he adopted his "Operation Chin Defense" style.

wow ... yeah tony thompson really ruined him, although maybe he was always headed for this level but price was a bit unlucky that thompson landed a punch that perforated his eardrum and made the ko look way worse than it was, i wonder if he hadnt taken the thompson rematch immediately after that maybe his career would have gone better :S

I actually think thompson was a really good heavyweight, it would have been interesting to see how he would have done if he had better promoters or turned pro earlier, I think with the right management he could have won a 1/4 of a world title(i.e one of the 4 belts :S).

I excused the first loss to Thompson, as I thought Thompson landed a perfect punch and anyone can be caught. Lennox was KO'd twice by lesser men with perfect punches.

But when I saw him quit in the 2nd fight, we had to know he didn't have the goods to be competitive. Like when we saw Ortiz quit against Maidana. You can't teach a man heart, he either has it or he doesnt.

I hope Price hangs them up now. He came in nearly 20 stone. David Cowdell; What kind of trainer lets his fighter get so out of shape ? What was he trying do against the ropes shoulder rolling ? I swear – These fighters have been watching too much All Access Money May

I’m not going to hate on Price though. I’ve actually met him more than a few times. He's actually a nice guy. I’m not sure where he can go from here. I’ve got a feeling he’ll carry on but he'll turn into an Audley Harrison, one of them “name fighters” who good rising fighters like to KO to have on his name on their CV

Price is just one of them fighters that run out gas more easily than most others. He was gulping air from as early as the third and you can gas even if you've trained really well. Nervous energy; A lot of fighters (i.e. Jermain Taylor) were physically well conditioned but he had sh*t stamina because he was so tense when he fought, which diminishes his conditioning. This is why James Toney for years would show up to fights with a huge gut and not tire nearly as badly as someone like Taylor, because he was so relaxed in the ring.

It can also be genetic. Some guys can look like Wlad but can’t run more then 3km others can look like butterbean and run miles non-stop.

Price was just missing some of the key so called 'intangibles' in order to make his professional career a success. He doesn't have the confidence, stamina or composure (especially under pressure) to make it to the upper echelons of the sport.

And there's no shame in that

He has had a good career but just fell short at the very top level.

He's still a British & Commonwealth pro champion and an Olympic Bronze medallist. That's a hell of a career by anyone's standards. Enjoy your (I hope) retirement.

What Taylor lacked was the skill of a Toney but at same weight exceeded James in fighting instinct and stamina. It goes hand in foot. Toney was mentally relaxed yes but physically relaxed to the point of losing a couple gimmies. Name a fight where Taylor dogged it and timed out rounds.

I don't think that will even happen, Audley used to rub people up the wrong way, fans loved to rip the piss out of him and they laughed when he got knocked out, Price isn't anywhere as well known as Audley and I think that people will just feeel a little sad to see him KO'd every couple of months.
